I’m kinda wondering this as well. I’m still using a Mixtrack Pro and I’m looking to upgrade BADLY. I’d hate to buy an S2 or S4 and then NI announce a new controller. I really wanted a DDJ-SX but I see that there’s a lot of issues with the third party mappings for Traktor. Same goes for the NS7 II, seems like it would be unreliable…if possible at all.

Seems like we’re not alone though. There sure are a lot of threads on this forum with people saying they want a new controller for Traktor but don’t know what to buy since there’s not many options right now as far as high end controllers go, minus the S4. (That are worth it, actually, since I read the DDJ-T1 isn’t really worth the amount of money it costs.)

I posted in another thread about the DDJ-T1 as I can get a new one for £460.00, actually used a friends one on Sat night and loved it! im thinking of buying this to start and if something better comes along I can upgrade.

Im still very surprised that no 3rd party such as Pioneer, Numark etc unveiled any new Traktor controller! I still think a DDJ-TX may come at some point.

NI will probably not be releasing any new kontrollers for Traktor like the S2 and the S4. They are from what i have seen going more modular pieces to enhance the existing setups. They released the new Z2 mixer as well as the F1 which to me tells me they are stepping away from traditional DJing and trying to really implement live production.

With an X1 and Z2 and 1 or 2 F1s you can do anything within Traktor and then some.

With regards to the DDJ-SX Traktor doesnt need to bring out their own version of the controller. All they would have to do is offically support it and make a mapping that is like the S4, which i could possibly see happen in the future.

If they would implement HID jogwheel control and remix deck control with pads… I would be tempted.

Reliable mappings for other brand controllers would be nice. There is one for the Pioneer WeGo. Whoever develops one for the DDJ-SX could make some serious money right now! I wish I understood how to program mappings.

The outgoing mapping (i.e. what the controller sends to the software) is usually pretty well documented and easily mappable. Where things have a tendency to go “wrong”, is where you need messages from the software to do something on your controller. My experience anyway.
