ParticipantWith the NI S2 you get a full version of Traktor while with the VMS4 you get Traktor LE witch does suport 4 decks but is limeted and you’ll need to upgrade it the get it fully working.
But the VMS4.1 has 4 channel inputs + 2 mic so you can hoock up othere audio sources and can work as a mixer without a laptop conneced the NI S2 has only 1 mic input but is working fully with Traktor.
Dennon MC3000 also has 2 line inputs but comes with Virtual DJ (at least from my provider) but is the only one of them that has a filter knob.
If I were to choose between the 3 of them I’d go VMS4.1 for it’s inputs and 4 fader mixer. but if you were to consider the NI S4 instead of the S2 I’d get the NI over VMS
with S2 you get full version of Traktor
with VMS you get a LE version but a full version or upgrade are insane cheep nowso it’s more what futures you need of the controller

ParticipantI dont have any other audio sources to connect, possibly in the future but nothing as of now so that’s not really an issue.
Could you tell me what the LE version of traktor would be missing compared to the full?
and what kind of price are we talking about to upgrade it to full?EDIT: I figured those out ^
let’s say that I have traktor pro 2 already for all of these controllers, and they are all the same price..
now which one would you guys prefer?November 28, 2012 at 1:15 am #32721Jay Nebra
Participantalso, what are your opinions on the novation twitch?

Participantif you already have the Traktor I’m still going to say VMS4.1 and that’s mainly because I don’t like the layout of Denon controllers. Also if you sometime in the future want to expand and use the Remixdecks the VMS4.1 gives you EQ and Volume controlls over deck C&D in Traktor. The Denon does have the Filter knob that I always missed on my VMS4 though.
If your not going to be scratching the the Twitch is also a realy good kontroller and will give you the most mapping option of all 4 choices.November 28, 2012 at 8:54 pm #32784rfb
MemberYup, the twitch is a good alternative. I wouldn’t consider the VMS4 personally, but I’ve never used it outside of a store so what do I know.
The denon is sturdier than the S2, has dedicated filter knobs and a smaller footprint. The browsing section is shitty IMO. I also don’t like the layout with the hotcues cramped in behind the jogwheels.
I would go with the S2 (I own my second one now after trying a shitload of controllers). Has everything I need with the Beaubryte Mapping, reasonable footprint, integrates perfectly with Traktor (and packs a license), and I thinks with a F1 (I’ll get one again sometime 2013) you have a pretty decent setup.

Participant^ thats what im leaning towards now. the twitch is the only thing stuck in the back of my mind. those performance functions with the 8 pads look awesome but I’m not a huge fan of the overall look of the twitch or its software

MemberYou can use it with Traktor out of the box with the Novation mapping which isn’t too bad, plus there’s a pretty good mapping by viper. I like jogs though, and two FX sections instead of just one, which is why I ditched the Twitch again. Other than that it’s awesome.
Always depends on your workflow!

ParticipantHey guys, thanks for all your help. But the controller I finally settled on isn’t any of these actually lol
I was able to up my price range a little bit and after much research I fell in love with the Numark 4trakJust purchased it yesterday and after a few holdups trying to get it setup it’s finally working with my full version of traktor pro. Can’t wait to become efficient with it because the things a beast, I definitely recommend it.
….also, after all the research I’ve done on dj controllers in the past month I’m considering applying for a job at my local guitar center because I knew more about those controllers than the sales consultant there did that I was talking to lol
