ModeratorOk, it’s official … you are NUTS! ROFLMAO.
Look forward to a chance to see what you have cooked up. Sure explains your long absence from the forums.

ParticipantTraktor pro is ure answer… You can mix and use remix decks for loops etc. Also look into Dubspot on YouTube.. They are based in New York. There are ways you can link traktor to ableton and have a mountain of possibles. Design ure own…lol

ParticipantTraktor is what I had been using, it got to where it was insufficient for my needs. My day gig is video game developer, so I’m up to the task, and this way, I have total control over my workflow.
It’s coming along really well, my prototype has the basics – independent time stretching and pitch shifting, track loading, playing, volume + eq mixer, and cue points… just finishing up prototyping the UI now. I am hoping to be ready to use it when I play out on Friday.
It’s about 3 weeks of work to get to here, which I think is totally time well spent for what this will do for me.

Participanthave you looked at the software from the folks at mixed in key? their program, flow 2.5 is designed for exactly what you are looking to do with your dj sets, live remixing. http://flowdjsoftware.com/

ModeratorHey Andy,
While you are right … you are missing a very important aspect here. Deathy is the kind of guy that will make stuff himself. He’s even got the wild plan to start improving on KeyFinder. So, buying pre-made software is just not gonna tick his boxes 😀

Participantheh. Yeah, there is that.
I did check Flow, and it’s in the same area as what I’m looking for, but is a little bit too basic for my needs.
It’s coming along great, though I am running a little behind schedule for when I hoped to have my prototype done. The audio engine is prototyped, but the user interface prototyping is going a LOT slower than I had hoped. But it IS purty.
I’ll be heading to the US next week, so it will be a couple of weeks before I have a playable prototype, but it has been an awesome learning experience. I am looking forward to having total control over my workflow.

ParticipantOh, and Chuck – I have been doing a little backburner research into improving KeyFinder… I have some ideas that could really improve it a lot.
My goal, of course, is to rival MiK’s accuracy. I believe that the best way to approach it is, instead of trying to come up with really good detection code, instead I will build a deep learning AI and let it figure out how to listen to music. They have gotten to where, with no direct training, they can identify cats in pictures on the internet (very important), so vision is solid… and the strides in voice recognition have also been phenomenal with deep learning. Soooo, let’s teach a computer how to listen to music!

ParticipantTraktor is what I had been using, it got to where it was insufficient for my needs…. what exaltly does traktor lack that ure new program has…. i mean well done to you if you can program but are you not losing sight of the fact that your trying to dj??? its so easy to get destacted from dj but you take it to another world… if you want to timestrectch audio do that in a daw then use it in a mixing proram. Not to go of my point…stop distracting ureself from djing

ParticipantI’m not distracting myself from DJing… I’m enhancing the style that I’ve developed. Yes, there are other programs that I could continue to shoe-horn the way I want to work into, but why should I? Especially when writing my own software and being able to do whatever I want with it is so much fun?

cool, yeah i got that you were writing your own software, my bad if my post implied otherwise, i mainly asked if you looked into flow because what you’re trying to do sounded similar and was curious as to what you thought or if it was similar or not. anyway, you answered the latter part, but rad you’re doing a similar thing, i have played around with flow and found that it is too basic as well, there are some key aspects that just can’t be done with their software, hopefully you can take your idea above and beyond….especially with seemingly simple items, but really imperative at this point in the game, like the ability to run multiple controllers at once….anyway, hope your thing keeps going well for ya…cheers.

ParticipantThanks! I was able to start using it this weekend, although I am still having some sync issues that need ironing out before I can truly play out with it.
Soooooo clooooose!
