    Hey dude,

You need to just practice, promote, and perform.

    Practice:
In your spare time, mix, mix and mix 🙂

    Promote:
People don’t like talk, they like action. Get some mixes up onto Mixcloud and use the tags to target your audience. Use Reddit, find facebook pages specifically for EDM mixes.

    Perform:
Once you start to get known for your mixes, people will pay attention. Keep making noise on social media (Facebook, Twitter etc) and soon if people need a DJ, they will ask. Volunteer to party for your friends for free! It may lead to other events.

If you worried that no one will listen to what you specialize, how about moving toward to stuff that folks will listen ?
You can start out that way at first without being “sold-out”, after you get recognized and getting more gigs, THEN you can start infuse it with yur own style

    At least that’s what I did …

ANd yes friends is important, who else would come to see your show if it aint your friends?
Annnd DJ friends is important also…
So start making that connection !
