ModeratorLOL, no kidding! Mind you, I did do a few gigs like that back in the 80s because the gear just didn’t allow for pre-listening, but that is a different story.
While I don’t know the exact settings for Virtual DJ, you have to set the soundcard/sound output correctly in the software.
I am sure one of our readers WITH Virtual DJ will be able to tell you where to look and what to set. So, no worries, help is on it’s way 😀

ParticipantFirst, some of the more basic things to check/try…
– make sure the cue/master knob is turned all the way to cue.
– make sure the up-fader on the cue channel is all the way down.
– make sure the crossfader is all the way to the live side (not the cue side).Still acting up? Then we move into software…
– if on PC, make sure you installed up-to-date Denon ASIO drivers. Without ASIO, the unit looks like a single channel to your computer.
– in Virtual, open the sound configuration page and let me know what options you have selected and we can go from there.June 25, 2015 at 2:59 am #2216641DJ ISN
ParticipantOkay here is my setup
Two cables a yellow and a red one plugged into the unbalanced section right next to the balanced section and plugged into my stereo system. Then my headphones plugged in. For my Virtual DJ LE settings are right now. Remember i am only using LE and it sucks. My settings are inputs : None (I cannot change this for some reason.) Outputs: One speaker, if i try the one with a speaker and headphones my speakers play way quiet. (These are the only two options, and the pics with them show them plugged into a computer. Which is not the case.) Soundcard, since the speakers are plugged into my denon i tell it to use that soundcard.
Please i hope you can help. Should i just change to balanced or something I dunno this dilemma makes it hard to mix at all.

ParticipantIs this Virtual DJ 7??
Your headphones should be plugged into the front of the Denon, yes?
VDJ should be set to “speakers and headphones” and I would suggest turning all the controls relating to the headphone output slightly on the front of your Denon to make sure that VDJ has got them in the right place (Todd mentioned these earlier).
Can you take any screenshots of the audio settings page(s) so we can see what you mean more? I am on VDJ8 now and I can’t remember what the menu’s looked like… 🙂

ParticipantYup, that’s the root of your problem. “Speakers + Headphones” is the setting you need. One Speaker means all the sound is going down one channel. If after you change this the levels are too quiet, you just need to adjust your gains.

ParticipantSO i am using two cords for a balanced speaker setup (the Left and Right on the back of my unit in the 4th and 5th channel slots.) going into a speaker. I am using the Denon Asio drivers and Master channel 3,4 and headphones 1 and 2
But its not frickin working

ModeratorDepending on your speaker inputs and assuming you are using active (powered) speakers, these are your options:
* Unbalanced RCA from the master out RCA’s to your speakers. Make sure that you split the cable so one side goes to one speaker and the other to the other speaker.
* Balanced Jack to Jack or Jack to XLR (again depending on the connections on the speaker) from the balanced outputs on the controller to your speaker. These cables are normally single anyway, so you’d obviously need two pieces, one for the left and one for the right speaker.I have no clue what you mean with 4th and 5th channel slots.
Your master and headphones I would turn around (master 1-2, headphones 3-4) if possible, but I may be wrong. This is easy to test though.
As suggested make sure that you gain an incoming track correctly, use the level knob. Also make sure your crossfaders is either switched off while setting up (recommended) or at the correct side and that both your channel fader and master volume knob are open far enough.
Make sure the master/deck switch is set to deck, so you can see if any sound is coming in and on the correct channel. Check the correct channel is selected (deck A/C and B/D buttons).

ParticipantMaster should defo be channels 1&2, headphones 3&4..
With that setup, it should then work…
