The S2 is absolutely OK to DJ with at any venue. Just make sure to bring the right cables with you to plug into the venues PA and you should be good. Get a gig and have fun.

Im using a s2 also, what kind of cables should i get for clubs? Would rca be enough or some might require other kinds of cables?

It totally depends on the club PA. I have seen clubs where you simply unplug some device that is connected to their DJ Mixer via RCA and you plug your RCAs in and you are routed through their mixer.
This is not uncommon, however I do not particularly like it, as the DJ Mixer is another source of sound quality loss or failures during your set.
Some have multi-core PA boxes that you need to plug in via XLR or TRS either into the PA directly or into a PA mixer, stage box… whatever.
Over the years I have accumulated a large amount of cables, if I would carry them all to a gig the cable box would be triple the size of my controller plus Laptop flight cases…. So all I can say is: Ask beforehand or even better check out the location and what cables you will need and bring/buy exactly that cable(s). Try not to use crappy connectors if you can (like RCA to TRS) but try to do it in the cable wiring. For example one end has XLR that you plug into the PA and the other has a TRS that plugs into your controller or vice versa. Buy good cables and they will last. My TRS-TRS cables are at least 10 years old, but they are heavy duty stage cables and will prolly last another 10 and have excellent sound quality.

The Majority of places i have played at have an existing club setup usually a djm800 and 2 cdjs…so all i ever bring is just my controller and 2 rcas…if you are playing the whole night yourself than i would suggest plugging in straight to the PA system…usually XLR…in which case you will need TRS to XLR cables as the S2 doesnt have XLR.

As to where you should play…stick to venues that encourage the music you like to play. Playing out for your first time can be a nerve wracking experience and you will want to stick to what you are comfortable with.

s2 is absolutely okay to play at a club provided that you let the venue/promoter know in advance that you will be bringing it in. some places are not okay with you plugging things into their mixer, so you might have to coordinate with them to come in early and do a sound check of some sort.

but you can be confident that these are pro level equipment. if im not mistaken, when i saw above & beyond the other day, their opening DJ andrew bayer was using an s4.

I don’t know about the S2 (I assume it’s the same sound card as the S4), but the DJM-900 nexus sound card sounds so much better than the sound card on the S4. If the club has one of these, then plug directly into it for the better quality sound.
