These songs have been imported from iTunes. When I went into iTunes to play these tracks it just jumped to the next track.”

Question: Are you sure the songs downloaded (or imported) correctly into iTunes? I asked because just last week I downloaded a track and assumed everything was fine until I opened up Traktor Pro 2.5 and loaded the track. The wave forms looked weird and the name of the song was missing on the A Deck. However, the name of the song read correctly in the browser.

I opened up iTunes and tried to play the song, but software skipped to the next song. To remedy the problem I deleted the song altogether and re-downloaded it from the Cloud. All was perfect again. I’m not sure why that happened, but it was the first time. I wonder if it’s a bug with iTunes 11. If it means anything I purchased the songs using a pc running Windows XP, and allowed the Macbook to download the songs at a later time. Both machines are running iTunes 11.

With that said delete a corrupted song and re-download it from the Cloud in iTunes. See if the track plays correctly in iTunes. Then open Traktor and see if it works correctly there.

I think from now on I’m going to continue listening to all songs purchased through iTunes shortly after making the purchase or before opening any other software such as Mixed in Key and Traktor.

The songs in question were ripped from CD’s and have been in my iTunes for over 7 years with no problem whatsoever.
I have got a mix of tracks either downloaded from iTunes etc or ripped from original CD’s.
Laptop is less than 1 year old.

What version of iTunes are you using? I never had problems I described until upgrading to iTunes 11 recently.

I am using the latest version of iTunes (which I’m not overly impressed with) but I know I had these issues before iTunes upgraded.

Do those file names contain interesting Unicode characters, like Japanese characters and so on? Or spaces, or tabs? Anyway, file names should have nothing to do with the sound quality. The paths are absolute so the thing that happens concerning a file name rewrite is that Traktor or iTunes can’t find them.
