You can dislike all that but I do think that it might shorten your possibillities to be a DJ and get giggs rather much.:p
So stay in your bedroom and be a hater or try to get an other hobbie than DJ’ing is my tip of the day to you 😉//DJ Hessler

ParticipantYou can hate anything you want and you can like anything you want. It’s your opinion.
So long you dont try to force your opinion onto other ppl it’s fine…when you do that then you got issues.
So hate whatever you want but do it alone or you can be alone at the end.Sorry for philosophy lesson 101

KeymasterIf you lined up all the underground producers you love and asked them whether they’d like a #1 hit, I suspect 9 out of 10 would jump at the chance.

MemberThere are no rights or wrongs in taste! There are however rights and wrongs in the ways one can express his taste – one thing that Im surely to be found guilty sometimes! 😉

Memberok maybe i worded this wrong and didnt go enough into detail. Its not a hate as much of the music its the atmosphere they bring. For me living in New York its always the same; a bunch of drunken idiots stumbling around harrasing people and getting into fights at the end of the night.

and of course they would anyone would, including myself. I will never hate on someone who wants to be #1 and make more money. Its the commercial scene that bothers me not the artists

MemberI can handle mainstream music. What i can’t handle is hearing it everywhere I go. I can’t make it through a 24 hour period without hearing party rock anthem. I’ve been hearing it for 6 months now. When will it end?!?

Not wrong of you, but it’s more wrong if you disrespect the DJs and people who do like that music.
I personally don’t get into most mainstream music, but I try to respect people who do, and I also never try to impose my way on others….that means I don’t take a gig in a mainstream music spot and then force the crowd to listen to underground when it’s clear they don’t want that.

MemberMike I know exactly what your saying! I feel like us NYC’ers are spoiled with filthy dirty beats at a lot of spots. Pacha has totally sold out with the likes of Will.I.Am and Pauly D, but at least they still have chus&ceballos and victor calderone as residents! Have you tried D36 yet? I shipped off to Turkey before I got a chance to go, I heard some good things about the system and the talent seems to be pretty good too. I rly miss Cielo<3

D36 is great.. amazing system, lights etc…. not as good as pacha but they do have good DJs there but its hit and miss with the crowd. Saw mind control there last week they were rippin it but the crowd just wasn’t really there for the cause if u know what i mean, it cleared out early right when the music was getting good. But i did hit pacha this saturday for Boris, and let me tell u that man NEVER disappoints

MemberI don’t dislike the DJ’s who play that stuff, because they simply cater to the target market that visits their club, and money is money after all.
I do avoid those clubs though, I dislike knowing the setlist before I even walk in. Just a pity there isn’t much of a house/tech scene in the city I live in.

ParticipantNo it’s not wrong, but if that’s what you’re paid to play it’s what you should stick to for the majority of your set…with that being said I’d say most clubs/bars (at least in Chicago) are looking for top-40/mainstream dj’s, so the question is: Do you want to get paid or not?

MemberSome music is good, some music is bad. Some music is commercial, some of it ain’t. One of my teachers always told me to be an ambassador of music. Don’t hate, just guide those you can to better musical choices.

Member“do you want to get paid or not” What happened to DJ’ing for the love of the music?
Listen to this song to know what I think.
