ModeratorThe thing is, you won’t have a cue signal. So, no way to pre-fader listen to tracks.
For that you need a DJ-splitter cable. Be aware, this is not the same (although it looks like it) as a headphone splitter cable.
All the last one do is copy the signal to two outputs, so you can hook up two pairs of headphones.
The DJ-splitter cable takes the stereo output from the iPad and makes it into two mono outputs. One goes to the mixer, but will be mono, so you’d need a mono to stereo splitter cable as well and the other goes to your headphones.
You then set the outputs in your DJ App to utilize the split signal to send the cue signal to headphones and the main signal to the mixer.

Greetinx and good luck.

ParticipantIm not sure of Traktor settings, I use VDJ, But I used to use the laptop headphone socket running from the 3.5mm jack to rca like in your link and then use two Y leads to get the two mono outs. Using two channels of the mixer, 1 for deck one and 1 for deck two. You can then use the club mixer for cueing on headphones etc
Two of something like this would work (although you can get them cheaper than that)

KeymasterTraktor on the iPad does not work with CDJs.
I would try to get my songs on USB sticks and work with the CDJs they have in the club.

ModeratorDid I misread that? I think the OP said no CD players of any kind. Just a mixer to plug into.

Yes i said that there are’t any cd players only the mixer wich is a pioneer 800 , i think that if i us and Y with a male 3,5 to connect the ipad and 2 rca cables famele (red and white) i will have mono sound and if that Y is connect one cable to my headphones, and in the other cable I will connect and other Y that go from mono to stereo and then connected to the channel 1 in the mixer. Then my question is that if i will be able to use the mixer or i will have to use my ipad to control the Dj software (traktor) that i Have in my Ipad
Thank you so much guys 😉January 27, 2014 at 4:15 pm #1027203DJ Vintage
ModeratorTo make something clear. If you use a DJ splitter or any kind of Y-cabling, you will have 1 mono (even if you run it into the mixer as two rca’s the signal will still be mono) master signal going into your mixer. So apart from ” master volume”, your mixer is not involved in the rest of the process.
You have to do EVERYTHING on the iPad. It’s your controller and your mixer effectively.
Hope that answers your question.

KeymasterOk misinterpreted that sorry…
Yeah still it might give you inferior sound quality since I do not know how the line level will end up coming from the iPad… some 800s especially are a bit picky, but you can prolly play around with the gain settings to make it work.

ParticipantI also recently bought an iPad and have been playing around with Traktor DJ. From what I understood there is a way to get two stereo outputs by using a ‘hack’ with the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit. This doesn’t solve the problem, however, of having to use your iPad as a mixer: the outputs can only be used as master and cue. Links to NI website with the info are below. Hope it helps!

ModeratorSure you want to be out in a live situation with a hacked iPad?
Here’s an article from the blog on the subject:

This is the theory. I haven’t played around with that set-up, so can’t tell you if it actually works like that.
