touch osc is only compatible with ios 3 +

Im not sure whats the latest software for 1st gen ipads, Im pretty sure it won’t run ios6 but I imagine you can probably run ios 5 so you should be fine.

I have touch osc, never really used it though tbh.

What you planning on mapping to it?

I’m gonna use touchosc for Traktor Pro. Pretty good deals on the Ipad 1st generation. Just wondering what the limitations would be if I want to use DJ apps on it.

I would look for an iPad 2 (the one without retina) instead of a 1. If your market is anything like ours, there isn’t THAT big a difference in price between used 1’s and 2’s.

The iPad 2 has a dual core A5 processor whereas the iPad 1 has a single core A4 processor. This is a pretty big step up and with iPads being available new for around 400 euro, the difference in price between a used 1 and 2 can’t be more than a few 10s of euros and I would most definitely go for the 2.

The 2 will do anything you need it to I think. After all, iPad apps are just that, apps designed specifically for the possibilities and limitations of the platform.

I agree with Chuck – better go with iPad 2. Also, if I may, Id say ditch TouchOSC and check out Lemur.

Totally agree with what’s been said…go for iPad 2, it runs iOS 6 and as such you get the multi-route audio functionality…plus you’ll find more apps will be compatible (like vjay, Traktor DJ etc).

Have fun with whatever you go with!

I agree with this 100 fold. Lemur is one of my go to apps. Worth every bit of the 50 bucks for the app. I use it for ableton with a custom mapping I made, which I am still tweaking with each gig. When it is ready I will put it up for people to download as well as my ableton session file.
