I was looking forward to this one more than any other in recent memory! The individual tracks are absolutely beautiful and ever since Involver 1 I’ve known he’s the remix master but I was a bit disappointed in the continuous mix (which, to me, has been the point of the Involver series, to have him take you on that 90 minute journey). It didn’t feel like it was able to breathe as much as the others. He went vocal into vocal into vocal track without ample instrumental in between to appreciate it. It was a bit heartbreaking for me honestly because I think it could have been flawless if he had kept all the same tracks in there but made it around a 2 hour mix instead, adding some good, deep, emotional instrumentals.
But good lord nobody makes an album like he does! I saw him in Dallas a few weeks ago and it was like a full system cleanse to experience that kind of refreshing, innovative journey. It completely cleared out all the gunk I had built up from the generic EDM that permeates everything nowadays.
Did you get the full (deluxe maybe?) album? It’s got the unmixed tracks, continuous mix, beatless mix, and download code for the Our Man in the Field video. If not then I’d recommend it. I’m in absolute love with the beatless mix and the video is an interesting take too.
