All I can suggest for the rest of you is to back up your database and site files…and make sure you keep things updated in terms of WordPress and plugin updates.

I get the vibe these hackers look for WP sites and exploit security holes they found.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was wondering what is the best route/source to go to host a basic website. For the time being it will mainly be single page with my large logo with clickable icons (similar to my sig here) to redirect to my soundcloud/youtube etc. This will just serve as a place holder until I have my actual site built.

I would not rule out WordPress just yet…but just be careful since it is a system where hackers can download all the script from the WP site, and thus look for weaknesses.

Your placeholder sounds like an ideal plan.

I think the basics for any DJ site should be:

    • News/Events page
    • Audio page
    • Bio/Press Kit
    • A means to contact you

After that, added extras would be a blog, photo section, etc.

Does wordpress offer hosting? Pardon my naivety!
I was originally planning on going with GoDaddy or something similar for about $9 dollars a month.

    Hi D-Jam,
Thanks for the heads up! I do have a couple questions that may be of interest:

    1. Were you using a free (or low-cost) WP theme?
    2. Did you get it from a credible site/dealer?

I had read a horror story (blog post) about the occasional theme author implanting extra malicious code.
Hopefully, we can help you narrow-down the root cause.
