It really depends on which i3 it has. There are several within each generation

This video explains the difference pretty well. Ideally, you would want to get the i3 with two physical cores instead of the single core with hyper threading. If you have a link to it or could provide us with this information, post it here and I can better help you!

I’d be more worried about the internal memory (RAM). It comes with 4GB, where I’d suggest having 8GB.

Another speed booster is using an SSD instead of a regular HD.

Replacing/upgrading memory and HD will financially put you much closer in the category of an i5 with that stuff already built-in.

More important is what software you are going to use and what kind of DJ-ing you will be doing. Clearly if you intend to integrate video you will need different specs than if you do “flat” open format DJ-ing.

Lots of use of FX and things like Pitch-n-Key, slicing and such may also quickly up the load for the CPU.

Hard for us to give you a definite answer, but these are some factors to consider.

    Thank you Dj Vintage

Its basic Djíng for now, weddings, birthdays and the like. occassionaly I would use effects. I am in South Africa and laptops with i5 processor with ssd is a huge price up from i3.

even if you can’t get an SSD, that HDD is at 5400 rpm which is a snails pace by todays standards. if you could upgrade to 7200 rpm, that would be a decent improvement. look into hybrid drives. they are cheaper than SSDs, there is a small amount of SSD storage (32ish GB) and the rest is mechanical storage.

The hard drive and RAM are things that can usually be upgraded fairly cheaply (especially if you do it yourself) and doesn’t require buying a whole new machine

okay, i just pulled it up on new egg. watch for sales. I managed to get a new laptop recently for DJing and my schoolwork (COmputer Science so performance actuallly matters) for about $50 USD more than these HP laptops are. it really just depends on sales. I scored an Acer laptop with an 15 7200U, 8 GB DDR4 Ram, 250 GB SSD, 1 TB HDD and Nvidia 950m GPU for $550. You just have to watch.
