    Modular is always my preference.
Can always upgrade the mixer later…
Setup takes more time but you will be playing/practicing at home so no issue here.
Also you may gain a better understanding of gear when making all the connections.

You seem to like options so why lock yourself to one mixer.

    Cheers

I don’t quite understand what do you mean by modular.

Honestly there is a reason why most DVS players use Serato. It is just plain better at it and you do not need a Rane mixer to use Serato DVS.

The minimum Setup for Serato DVS would be:
    1x Akai AMX 200 bucks
Serato DVS upgrade license 60 bucks
4x Serato Control vinyl (about 10 bucks a piece)
(Optional Akai AFX, you can add that later it costs about 160)

    Turntables: 2x reloop RP-7000

This is the minimum setup that makes sense.

However be aware that DVS has an upkeep cost and maintenance that needs to be done. So you should be a little techy or it will cost you.
    This includes:
New needles (and lots of them)
Control vinyl (they get worse over time and need replacing)
    slipmats (they wear out)
Heads (they wear out after a few needle replacements)
Mechanical maintenance of the direct drive and cleaning

If you use the DVS 3-5 times a week for longer periods of time this can easily accumulate to 50-100 bucks a month.

So if I buy the akai amx 200 I dont need the trakyor scratch a6 and a mixer because it is built in in the amx? I was going to buy the audio technica 120 usb or the reloop m2000.

I have researched about the akai amx and I didn’t like the setup. I prefer the traktor scratch a6. When you consider the proce of the amx itself and the 100 dollars for serato upgrade and the vinyls it will cost more than the a6. The traktor comes with the full version of traktor + 2 vinyls and is a real timecode interface. The akai is more of a controller. And with the akai I still need a mixer to connect to my speakers not those cheap rca’s.

That is actually uncorrect in most clubs you will only find RCA to connect to the house or PA mixer and for home studio use RCA is also fine and you can spare the DJ mixer. Also there is nothing inherit cheap about RCA, it depends on the manufacturer and you can also get cheap XLR in a 50 bucks Chinacontroller that sounds way worse… but what do I know I have only DJed for 25 years, so you might have more experience than me 🙂

Nonetheless if your heart is set on the A6 by all means go for it however the Turntables you posted are utterly bad. Honestly the RP-7000 is as low as I would go that is why I recommended the AMX, save money on the mixer side go for a full solution and invest in good turntables.

Now turntablism is a lot about hip-hop and hip-hop (even high class produced) is not always beat correct (aka BPM will vary slightly through the song), this is why we recommend Serato as it has a so called flexible beatgrid. Traktor only has a hard beatgrid and will not do so well with these kinds of music, but whatever your mind is set on.

However you still will need somekind of controller with Traktor if you want to use some features and not always click on your laptop to load things (which looks kinda unprofessional) so one of the NI addon controllers will still be needed.

    The AMX is a mixer…

    RCA is fine…
Usually the only connection the sound guy will let access when gigging.

So does the amx come with full version of serato? Why do I need to spend more money on the dvs upgrade, why don’t it come with it?

I decided to buy the traktor z2 mixer along with a pair of turntables. I don’t know what to choose still.
