To my surprise, I was much easier than I thought. I knew most of the tracks I was playing pretty well and all my cue points were set.

    Anyone else does this?

    You thouroughly know your tracks inside and out when… πŸ˜€

    awesome. how were you able to monitor your tracks without your headphones?

    After the headphone out on my mixer decided to stop working about 6 months ago, I’ve been DJing without headphones. Was surprised at how easy it was. You can clearly see what part of the song you’re up to by the wave form, when the bass comes in etc.

    This is, however, a temporary measure, can’t wait to get my headphones back…

    A Great and Informative Read Phil; but to say (I Quote);
    “This is not DJing but a blend of DJing and production (Ableton). It’s great, but there aren’t even any waves to ride, so it must be disqualified from this discussion.”
    Is Not Really Fair Within The Discussion of ‘Waveriding’; as it is Completely Possible; and Actually a Significant Process whilst DJ’ing Live with Ableton; Not ‘Everybody’ who uses Ableton Sets Up their ‘Cue Points’; or uses Any ‘Cheats’ to Enable an ‘Easier Ride’ whilst DJ’ing; Some DJ’s (including Myself) Rely on Waveforms as Secondary to the Actual ‘Sound’ we are ‘Hearing’; and I have yet to see a Better Software Programme that Offers you a Larger and More Distinct View Of The Waveform; I would Much Rather see a Plain Black Waveform at 8 Inches Tall; than Any Coloured Waveform of Less Than An Inch

    That’s exactly were I got the idea from but I just wasn’t brave enough to try it. I waited until l I felt like i knew my tracks and cue points pretty well πŸ™‚
