Maybe don’t use cruise control when you’re playing out? :p

No there isn’t!! I have already contacted NI over this! They claim it is a feature. It makes me irate if I forget the rules of cruise mode……
    Here are the rules.

Turn up only 1 fader to the max, which will be most current deck playing BEFORE turning cruise mode on. Even if you don’t the software fader will max out so you may as well replicate in hardware and compensate with gain and master volume controls at the same time so crowd doesn’t notice.
Only adjust master volume while in cruise mode.
Do not touch ANY faders while in cruise mode.
Turn off cruise mode BEFORE you touch any fader.
All deck faders in traktor software WILL MAX OUT when you turn cruise mode off!

I found an old thread I posted about cruise mode. http://digitaldjtips.com/forum/posts/35274/

GEEEEEESH!!!!!!!!! Thanks, Drew!!! This is awful and I’m a little peev’d that there are rules to Cruise Mode. Wow!!! Thanks for sharing. It’s annoying knowing that I’ll have to work around this “feature” going from Dinner Music (which is what I was playing at the time) to Dancing.

Anybody ever have problems where as soon as you turn cruise mode on it starts playing the other deck and proceeds to fade over to it, even though the song that is playing is nowhere near the end?? I’ve had this on a few occasions and have never worked out why it happens. Even if I turn off cruise and try it again (with/without different songs) it still happens.

Always seems to happen after I’ve already activated/de-activated cruise at least once during my set. Restarting Traktor fixes the problem.

Never had any of these problems while playing around in Traktor at home. But of course I just unchecked the “limiter” in Traktor so I didn’t know any problems or bugs existed until this past Saturday. Seems like NI needs to tweak Traktor in more ways than one. It’s sad to say, but it appears I may need to use iTunes or MixMiester(?) as alternatives to using Cruise mode in Traktor.

Yep, but only if a control surface fader is touched.

I must admit I never use cruise control or autoplay…

I use cruise control as my ‘warm up dj’ in a sense. Dj Cruise runs the mealtime music set (most of my gigs usually start with guests sitting down and eating)

I have this problem even when I don’t touch any faders! It happens as soon as I press the cruise button… I know that when cruise mode is on if you move any of the upfaders it transitions to the next song.

Update: Quick Tip just in case: When recording in Traktor using the Denon MC6000 the FADERS control the volume of the recording output also. So, if you set the recording gain at +6.0 dB you still have to set the fader all the way to the top. I used to DJ live using the faders with the “Enabler” checked in Traktor, but now I use the Denon mixer itself and do not go pass 0 dB with the “Enabler” unchecked in Traktor.

In other words, the Master Volume on the Denon MC6000 control the loudness of what you’re hearing when both recording and using Cruise Mode. However, the faders are the key, in addition to the recording gain, to controlling the loudness of the music file once you’re done with the mix.

I think I explained it right.

I’m sorry to rehash this, but I am really stuck in sour mode with Traktor’s Cruise Mode function. This past weekend I had a gig where I did not use Traktor’s cruise mode because I was afraid that my system would throw out a high decibel when going from cruise mode to live (similar to the first time it happened; so embarrassing).

So the entire time I stood up fading in and out dinner music (jazz tunes). Now, granted I could have disclosed what I had to do with my partner and I did close to the time dinner/cocktail hour was over, but I shouldn’t have to worry about my software scaring the guests because the developers thought it was a good idea to use the main volume knob to control the volume when using cruise mode as oppose to continuing to use the faders.
