The CDJ-900s have caught my eye. I love the SLIP feature for scratching…endless possibilities. They are native Serato Scratch Live midi controllers so you don’t need to ditch the screen! The DJM-900 is also traktor certified if you wanted to stick with Traktor.

Post some pics or shoot me a message when you get them.

I fancy learning how to manually beat match. I know it is a bit of “oohhh its pointless, what’s the point when so much time could be saved meaning you can mix better” but I personally think its a skill every DJ should have.

    I wasn’t advocating…just stating the fact. I agree.

PS: the USB stick record feature on the DJM-350 is sweet.

I still find the jogwheels on CDJ 1000/2000’s to be better than any controller on the market. I still love mixing with them.

Very excited to make the move to CDJs, and no hate here against digital, just my personal preference is all.

I’ll still be checking the blog/forums a zillion times a day of course.

I will absolutely miss the screen, but I’ve decided to get really serious with my djing, and I want to stop djing with my eyes, and start fully djing with my ears.

I’m taking time off from the screen so I can’t cheat myself by using it. Maybe 6-12 months from now when I feel I’ve got it, I’ll use the screen again, and all the features the software adds to your performance/experience.

So I guess you can say I’m not leaving digital djing, just taking a hiatus so I can fill the gaps in my skills, then I’ll be back.

Pyramid Lake, NV on an Indian Reservation. It was basically Burning Man lite, but way less intense/epic than Burning Man, but just as much fun.

My CDJs haven’t gotten here yet, the NATO protests in Chicago have all the shipping out of there delayed.

Nice idea man! Learning the traditional techniques is always a good idea!

So I might be mistaken, but between the fact that Pioneer CDJs seem to be on back order at every authorized dealer in the US, and Traktor 2.5 is coming out in a week, and it being 3 years since Pioneer released a new CDJ, I’m pretty sure they are releasing a new model CDJ in the next week or two.

From what i know the new CDJs are
    CDJ900Nexus
    CDJ2000Nexus

    So really 900 and 2000 Mk2s.

They were suppose to be released in April 2012 from what i heard i havent seen anything about them actually available. Im assuming they are going to be tying in the Release of the HDJ-1500s with the new Nexus series of CDJs.

So it looks like I chose the absolute worst time to finally order my CDJs haha, oh well no regrets.

not really cuz from what i can tell the new Nexus series has like no new changes other than color…There are some speculations that the new 2000s will have slipmode and a beatsync via dlink…but nothing that is concrete.
as for the release date I’m gonna assume the Fall cuz thats when the new 1500s are suppose to be released.
