    Hey,

I think the idea of a silent disco is pretty cool (not to mention MUCH better on everybody’s ears – provided you don’t push your headphones to the max).

Depending on what controller (assuming you are on a controller) you have, it hopefully has a split cue option. In that case you get your cue signal on one ear, the master on the other. From there on it’s just like mixing with cue on one ear headphone the other on booth speaker. If you have split cue, it usually allows you to balance the two sides as well (if you want the master louder or less loud than the cue for example).

Tip: If you haven’t mixed like that before, practice it beforehand. If at all possible record your test session. I can do it, but if I haven’t done it for a while, I have to go back and practice a bit. There is (for me at least) some getting used to mixing that way.

    Greetinx and good luck!

    Thanks,that’s some great info.

Yeah i use a ddj ergo with traktor. So i could just assign the channels to the headphones 🙂

The ergo has a button for the headphone marked cue on one side, master on the other, mix in the middle. When turned toward cue, you should only hear the cue signal in your headphone. When turned towards master, only the master signal. When around the mix mark, you should hear both.

As far as I know (have only played with the Ergo once or twice), it does give you the signal in both ears (i.e. stereo). This is slightly less optimal from true split cue (in which case the signal also gets split to left and right ear), but it can definitely be done. Just be sure you practice. It’s a different animal from doing it the ” normal”  way.

Where are you gonna do this, Utrecht?

Kanjer! Good job. Think you can tell us a little more about the experience. Sure many of us have never had the experience (yet).
