Or you loop 1 or 2 bars and raise the bpm to 140, keep in mind that for every 8-9 bpm raised you will go up half a note.

KeymasterLoop, stutter, double and filter effects work well when doing such transitions, or any combination of them.

Good idea – just an addition , if you are using serato or traktor – you should be able to key-lock and speed up the track without raising the pitch.

ParticipantI tend to look for songs that have a long breakdown or a long reverb tail with white noise. You can pretty much start any song after this as it will blend naturally without the use of any effects.

Yeah good point… My biggest tip/trick is the echo freeze effect. It creates those long tails you mention and to add some fun as you bring in the next track the echo morphs to the bpm change.

Yeah man… I may do something like go to a half step rap track or break (64 bpm) then travel up to 70, then Trap for a few to smoothly transition genres and then drop some Dubstep. Just remember the songs are more important than the mix, so fade out and drop on the one if need be. They’ll interpret the fade as a change 9x outta 10 anyway.

YES TO INFINITY! This is one of my main principles that I try to mix by. A smooth/clever transition is great, but, I’d rather hear an entire night of simple transitions from one great track to another vs a night of super technically complex transitions from one dull/played-out song to another.

ParticipantThat’s a huge jump, but I would increase the pitch on 128 and decrease the pitch on 140(depending on your pitch tolerance if you’re using +/-10 or +/-8 etc.) so I would have 128=134 and 140=134(+6 bmp on 128 and -6 bmp on 140). Then depending on the mix(hopefully you’re just move either the volume fader or crossfader/ using filters) I wound increase it to 140. But in a sense I would just keep tracks close to each other 128-132 bmp, 132-135 and keep going up until I can get to 140, I like to keep it safe.
