MemberI’ve only bought a few tracks from Beatport or 7Digital as there’s not a whole lot there if you’re not after the more mainstream styles of music. For the styles I’m after such as old-school hardcore, hardcore breaks and rave breaks you have to go to sites that specialise in that type of music such as nu-rave.com or Hardcore Lives. Quite a few of the tracks in my library are free downloads from forums, or from compilation CDs.

MemberI’m noticing how no-body has voted for vinyl at the poll at the start of thsi thread. Does this mean vinyl is effectivly dead as a storeage medium?
(but not a as a control medium, I cant see DVS dying just yet!)

ParticipantI rarely go to iTunes…unless I find out they have some rare goodie I need.
Most of the time now I’ll look at sites full of illegal MP3 downloads. I’ll listen to the tunes they post, and then go LEGALLY BUY the tunes I like. Love them or hate them, those blogs still are nice picks of things one should check out.
I also sometimes look at charts, even the Beatport Top 20s in different genres. I think it’s silly when one decides to say “no” to something simply because it’s “popular”.
Another thing I love is to find live sets of DJs I love, but only go for ones that have tracklists. I’ll listen to the set, pick out what I want, and then go shopping.

ParticipantFor singles I usually buy from Beatport, I stack them up and wait till I get sent a 20% off offer. For Albums I tend to still buy on LP vinyl. I some times use tunechecker.com to find the best deal, but considering price difference after discount is not much, i tend to stick with Beatport’s 320 files.

That is a Cool way of Checking Out Tracks 🙂 :);
I still have 600 Cassettes in my room of Radio 1 Essential Mixes; and I spent some time downloading the Tracklists so that in the Future (why is it always ‘The Future’ :)) I could listen to them again with a View to Buying the Tracks I Enjoy Most (I Don’t Care How ‘Old’ the Track may be as I Believe in Some Tracks being ‘Timeless’);
Unfortunately when I was at School and would hear something ‘Magic’ on John Peel; but then maybe 3 months later it may be a Number 1 Single in the Chart (and then ‘Dismissing’ it); but that was my Immaturity I Feel;
Now I look for Tracks that Create The Mood that I ‘Wish To Portray’ (like an Artist); and if that track happens to be ‘Jinny – Keep It Warm’ (a remix Obviously); then so be it 🙂July 4, 2011 at 10:06 pm #2868DJS
MemberA great place for picking up the hottest new tunes is Living Electro. I find so many other places hard to search discover new music. This is just house and electro house (And Trance) but that’s it. Love it.

Bravo to that. It’s ridiculous behaviour bodyswerving good, popular music when it’s often what the dancefloor wants.

Participanti usually buy the cd and burn to hard drive as windows media lossless or wav. file depending on computer. downloadable wav. files are available but pricey per track sometimes 3.99 per track.
