Wow, has it been that long? Time flies when you buy new gear it seems.
I’ve had the DDJ-SR now for a while and did some gigs with it too. It almost exactly fills my needs.

The 14 bit pitch faders are awesome, it’s much easier to ride the pitch now.
The effects knobs work great together with my X1 Mk2, I now have full control over all four effect banks at the same time.
The filters and gain controls are really handy to have. I don’t think I can go back to a setup without those. Once you have VU meters with gain knobs you realise how bad the auto gain functionality is in dj software!
The 2+2 layout at first seemed a drawback, but in practise I don’t miss a full four deck functionality at all. Even when playing 3 decks at once, switching between decks is good enough.
The jog wheels are ok, but I wished there was a little less friction on them. That’s my only drawback with respect to the Mixtrack Pro 2. Another thing is that scratching isn’t as accurate in Traktor as it is in Serato, but that’s a Traktor problem, not a gear problem. Only the S2 and S4 have a good accuracy in Traktor, so they must have broken it on purpose. But overall I must say that the DDJ-SR works better with Traktor than with Serato.

I’ve mapped the living daylights out of it and it works exactly the way I want it to. Whereas in Serato, well, you know the drill… If anybody wants to try my mapping, I’ll gladly share it. The reason I don’t post it on djtechtools is that once you do everybody starts whining that there’s no proper manual. Not a real grateful audience.

Overall I’m really happy with my investment. My Mixtrack is currently out teaching a friend to use Traktor and Serato, I’ll probably keep it for birthdays and stuff.
