I think that any speaker in that pricerange is bad.
But you will proberbly get most out of your money if you get a pair of PC speakers like
Creative or logitec…..
Well the thing is that all of the electricity stuff costs twice here, let’s say Traktor Kontrol S4 costs 1400$ here, Rokit 5 costs 600$ and so on… If I were in the USA I would have buy the Rokits, but here it just costs a lot more.
What PC speakers do you recommend of? Harmon Kardon Soundsticks?
I’d stay away from PC speakers, cheaper monitors are better, they might not have the best build quality, and they will probably sound a bit so-so compared to other monitors, but I do think they’ll outperform PC speakers. Try to see if you can find a pair of second-hand KRKs or maybe a pair of those Behringer monitors (I have no idea what they’re called, but they’ve got a yellow element as well).
95% of the world listen to music on speakers that cost less than US$200, at a rough guess! I recommend AV40s because they’re highly flexible loads of inputs) and for computer speakers, they sound exceptional.
I’ve only heard the Soundsticks which sound great, but the thing with the AV40s is they have LOADs of inputs, front and back… for a DJ that’s solid gold.
So what do you think? I really like the look of the Soundsticks, but as you say AV40 have more inputs. The Soundsticks will be cheaper. Which one to take?
One more thing I afraid is that AV40 are monitors, will they sound good as multimedia speakers also?
I would go for AV40s, monitors, multimedia speakers, it’s all just words… I can only give you my advice on what I’ve tried and for me, the AV40s are the best computer speakers there are.
Personally a decent home amp and monitors, s/h even … why ppl insist that plastic is comparable to nice timber speakers beats me exspecially at home on a desktop…. but thats my opinion
What do you think off the KRK Rokit 5s? I know that is prolly over your budget, but to me listening to them in our local shop, they sounded really good.
I’ll give the AV40s a listen as soon as I can.
I have soundsticks (actually for a lil gaming and not for DJ use) and they sound really good, but beware if you want to really crank it up, they do better in low to mid volume range, when the woofer shines. Also do not expect mid-range wonders from those cute drivers…
