    iTunes only shows tunes you have imported into the library.
    Mavericks shows you all audio files, this includes all mp3, wav, m4a,… whatever audio files anywhere on your harddrive.
    That may be sound files of games, system sound files, garage band sample files, sounds that came with apps,… whatever it can identify as sound or music.
