Hi Bob, welcome to the forums.

Why not make it a two-step process? The SR is supported by VDJ if I am not mistaken, so you can stick with the software you know while getting to know how to incorporate your controller (where you laptop only before?). After mastering the controller you can go and find out if Serato is for you.

The choice for software should not be dictated by your gear, but by the type of DJ you are, your workflow and your ambitions.

Thanks for the warm welcome DJ Vintage,
I think the slow transision root from VDJ to Serato that you described is the path I,m going to take.

I,m lucky in that I have a small purpose built music/recording room so while I am hopefully getting to grips with the controller I can leave it set up with VDJ in my room. You are correct that the DDJ-SR can be mapped out to use VDJ and the maps are already available online I believe.

The other question you asked regarding if I have only been using laptop only is yes, although back in the day I used to own a DAC3 which I used with PCDJ, but when I changed software to VDJ the controller never made the journey with me.

I am an old PCDJ user too (RED), way back LOL.

If you had some controller, CDJ or Vinyl experience in the past, getting used to the controller for all it’s basic features won’t be too big of a deal. Getting to know ALL it’s features and being able to use them in the correct way at the correct time, that will take some practice 😀
