    Hello Lloyd :);
    Yes; I had to take 7 Years out myself from DJ’ing; but I am back now; and like you; moving from Pioneer Decks (which I still have); and Physical Equipment; into the Digital Era was a bit Daunting at first; but has become an Absolute Wonder of Learning and Experimentation :);
    I am only a Member of this Site like yourself; but we All have Knowledge to Share; although of course we also have Our Writers who have Access to All New Equipment; and their Knowledge is Unbelievable
    However; you can see the Adverts down the Side of the page; which shows that the Physical Equipment Age is Not Over Yet :);
    But; do you have any Inclination to move more into the Digital World of DJ’ing ?
    And if so; have you looked at any Software in particular; and is that the Knowledge you are looking for ?

    I’m not so sure if I have any inclination as yet…I suppose my first step is to actually practice mixing music with what I have, because I’m guessing that will be important no matter what format. Its good to hear you are getting back into it.What style of music do you play and do you just practice at home or do you do gigs and whatnot? I have played a couple of weddings and parties and things like that, and it was a very cool feeling to play in front of people getting off on the music. I would like to recreate that but have some actual cool mixing skillz to impress people, y know? I have a couple of overseas mentors who have been spinning disco since the 70s and they have told me disco is somewhat hard to mix because of the bpm changing a lot due to “live drumming” and I have noticed the clock tends to jump around…just when I think I got it…grrr. I don’t play any other style so I don’t know if that problem is limited to disco. so in summing up I think atm I need to just focus on practicing mixing with what I have, with an open minded view to digital stuff in the future.What I really would like is a tutor, so I’m keeping my eyes peeled.Thanks for the messages…:D

    That is Great News Lloyd 🙂
    As to get back into Mixing; and to get your ‘Feel’ for it once again is Definitely the Way Forward :cool:;
    And Yes; you are Correct; it doesn’t matter what Gear we use; we have to get our Skills Back Again 🙂
    I have a Permanent Residency on a Global Internet Radio Station (Broadcasting from Canada though I am in England); and I like to Mix up the Genres each time I do a Set; so I can and do Mix Everything but Trance (which isn’t my Cup Of Tea); I love Disco as that is where the ‘Dance Movement’ came from; I am Unable to Play Out ‘Live’ at the moment due to my Health Issues; but I do Practice at Home Every Night; as it is my Passion; and I am also a Producer and Sound Engineer; (I also Master Tracks for people all over the World before they send them to Record Companies);
    Disco; Jazz; Rock; Blues; and Any Genre present Challenges with Mixing as a Human Drummer Often ‘Drifts’ when they are playing; which doesn’t help us much; but it is Great when we are able to use that Pitch Control and keep the Tracks together as it were 🙂
    Best Wishes;
    Emma

    Good to have a disco fan on board – I am a big fan of the slower disco cuts, especially the spacey, bongo led ones…

    Hey Emma and Phil. Yes, Phil I also like tracks in that style..any particlar faves? And Emma, your show sounds interesting. What site is it on? I bought an interface today so I’m gonna get that happening tomorrow…thanks for your thoughts on pitch control and the human drumming, and its v cool that you master tracks for people all over the world.It sounds like you are dedicated, that is inspiring. Unfortunately, the guys in the dj store I went into to get my interface were a little bit too cool for school…I really hate that.

    Hello Lloyd 🙂
    My Show is on Tonight (Friday July 8th at 22:00 GMT); on http://radiofreebrighton.org.uk/
    Thank You for asking :);
    Yes; Unfortunately I have a Health Condition that keeps me at home Every Day (except for Hospital Appointments); and so my Life Revolves around Music now; and Luckily I was allowed to Master my First Track for a Rockabilly Band in my Step-Father’s Studio when I was just 9; so I have Built my Knowledge from there;
    It is a Great Shame you had to deal with ‘Big Heads’ in the Store today; if you have the facility to buy Online we found some Great Australian Shops Online for someone the other day here; so at least that would take the ‘Person to Person’ situation away; and Phil has Reviewed Virtually Every Kit Available so you could get a Review before you spent 🙂

    great thanks for that Emma. I only just logged on so I missed your show but I’ll try and remember for next week, I think you guys are about ten hrs behind us. Sorry to hear about your health. But glad you are utilising your skills because of it.wow 9 years old…thats pretty cool.yep i can buy online, i kind of want the human contact because i find it helpful to have them explain stuff, but unfortunately i chose the wrong human! thank you for letting me know however. I’m sorry to say Phil, I’m not aware of those names. I also like slow disco bongo tracks, “Thousand Finger Man” by Candido is rather great, as is “Help Help” by Boney M (believe it or not)….thanks both.
