ParticipantMixtrak pro can be conected to an external mixer via master output.
The sound that comes out from master out can be mixed with another soundsource like a CD player on the external mixer
but you can not conect the Mixtrak pro to an external mixer and mix deck A and Deck B in for example Traktor on the external mixer.
I hope that you understand my explonation, otherways ask again and I will try to explain better.//DJ Hessler

ParticipantMixtrack pro has two ‘decks’, A and B. You load songs to both decks, and then mix between them using the built-in mixer, the most simple use case being bringing the crossfader from deck A to deck B. The audio lead from the master output on the mixtrack connects to your speakers, and thus the mixer controls what’s coming out from the speakers.
Like so:
DECK A ———|———- DECK B
……………..crossfader
…………………..|<- master out audio lead
…………………..|
…………………./
…………………/..
…………….SPEAKERSNow, if you add in an external mixer, you’ll get a situation where the master out audio lead is connected to one of the mixer channels – let’s call that channel 1. In this situation, all audio from the mixtrack is going in to channel 1 – exactly the same thing as when the master out was connected to speakers (without the external mixer). So the schematic would be something like this:
…………..
DECK A ———|———- DECK B
……………..crossfader
…………………..|<- master out audio lead
…………………..|
……..
CHNL 1 ———|——– CHNL 2
(mixtrack) ….xfader…. (nothing)
…………………..|
…………………..|<- mixer output
…………………./
………………../…
……………..SPEAKERSSo, now, moving the crossfader on the external mixer between channels 1 and 2 basically does nothing (besides mutes audio coming out from mixtrack on channel 1) – unless there is another audio source like a cd-player connected to channel 2. You will still be able to use the mixtrack crossfader, of course, and in this case the audio is simply routed through the external mixer, but using the external mixer to mix between decks A and B on the mixtrack is not possible.
I hope this rather lengthy explanation clears things up a bit 🙂

ParticipantOK I’ll give it a try.
On the backside of your Mixtrak Pro besides the USB port (that you conect to your computer) there is RCA outputs (Master output) They can be connected to a stereo amplifier, PA, active speakers, or wherever you want the sound from your Mixtrack Pro to go. That output can also be connected to the input of a channel on an external mixer (line in) (like a CD player).
The sound that comes out from the mixtrack is the same as if it were connected to a PA or stereo ampliferer.
IE. The different channels in the software that you uses to play on the mixtrack pro can NOT be separeted and mixed on an external mixer. You can in other words not mix two tracks from Mixtrack pro together on an external mixer…..
If you need further info or explonation I will need to know what software you use and what the purpose of connecting to an external mixer is?? Do not hesitate to ask again!

MemberDoesnt the pro have 2 pairs of rca outs? So just go to external mixer mode (or congigure the outputs per-deck) and map the crossfader to something useful.
I know you can do this in VDJ, Traktor, SSL, and Mixxx. I’m sure you can also do it with Serato intro and torq.November 3, 2011 at 6:27 pm #1002050VinnyBlanc

MemberThe second set of RCAs on the Mixtrack Pro only output the phones mix. You cant send deck A to RCA 1 and deck B to RCA 2 without sacrificing your headphone cue.

KeymasterYes but you can then plug your headphones into the external mixer instead

KeymasterI am not sure you can set the Mixtrack Pro to work like that… I guess you could if you didn’t touch its own mixer and set one output to cue (channel 1) and one to master (channel 2), and then fed them into the external mixer and used that to mix instead.
