The VCI-400 would be a contender IMO. Pretty small footprint, good pads, better VU meter than the SR and built like a tank. Or the Numark NV if you’re into gimmicky stuff. Or if you’re more into mobile DJ stuff, the Denon MC6000 Mk2.
All of these will work with Serato DJ.

I’ve had a good look and there is nothing currently that works with serato that ticks all the boxes for me, Vestax is not my cup of tea and the NV is closest to what I like but the tune select screen puts me off as its doesn’t show the key. It looks like I’ll sit and wait to see what else serato brings out. I would love to see a novation twitch 2.

Is there any hardware you do like? Maybe you can use that with DJay?

Sorry, mixed up two topics. Forget the thing about DJay, is there any hardware you do like?

You dont sound like you are willing to wait, so maybe it would be worth it if you ditch one of the features you want. You dont need drumpads for using the roll feature nor a dedicated filterknob as you can also set one effect(bank) as filter if you like.
Also, do you extremely need individual metering for each channel? – If not, you may want to look into the Denon MC6000MK2 (again), the Reloop TerminalMix8 or the Numark NS6. If you could live with a bigger controller but do want the other features, you already mentioned the DDJ-SR and you may even get a used DDJ-SX as many of the former users are switching to the SX2.

I have not heard of any controllers coming out next year and there is for sure no safe way to say that there will be a “perfect controller for you.
But all in all I can really just quote the words that have been said so often in the past:
Its the DJ that makes the partynd not the gear.

I think the big controller revolution with performance pads etc. is over.
Newer controllers will more cater to specific crowds like the Traktor Control S8 which clearly is not for everyone.

Why not go modular then? The new akai mixer and effect controllers seem pretty good.
