I like the general idea. But I can’t really make the name out. Maybe tweak the D a little?

I would recommend you try crowd sourcing a pro to do a logo for you. http://99designs.com/ is a great way to get an awesome logo

It’s how we got our “square” logo 🙂

First off, make sure that logo accurately displays your style as a DJ. It seems very “electro house”. So if you do that, then cool…but if you one day decide to be hip-hop or deep house, you might find trouble in selling your brand. I mentioned in an article to be careful on how you portray yourself, and explained why I went for a logo that did not allow someone to assume anything.

If you’re happy with that, then the best scenario is to draw the logo in a VECTOR-BASED imaging program. Adobe Illustrator is the more known program, but if you’re a poor student then try the open-source alternative, Inkscape.

Why vector? It’s the ideal way to have your logo so it can be scaled in any way, shape, or form. You can make it tiny to show up on a mobile device, or huge on a billboard. I’d tell you to either try yourself or hire someone to draw that logo as a vector. If you ever have a bitmap item in there (like an image of something), then make sure you have it large enough so any graphic designer can use it. Seen too many times where a client hands me a tiny little image of a logo, and I tell them this is useless.

That’s it. I’d also suggest having scenarios of the logo for different occasions. One for light-colored backgrounds, one for dark-colored backgrounds, etc.

D-Jam is of course right in his suggestions. Provided I havent worked with vectors that much and Dayvue contacted me personally to ask for the logo, I created a ridicilusly huge (in both size and pixel resolution) logo he can use. Of course I’m not a proffesional designer so Im sure the pros can spot some mistakes. 😉

Dayvue, Hope you like it! 😉 Its in png format so that you can drop it on any background 😉
Oh emmmm, if you dont know how to resize the damn thing to a sensible size, let me know and I’ll send you smaller images!

    Cool! This is pretty good!

    I have 2 ideas.
1). Would it be hard to squeeze the logo horizontally so that the letters are not as wide? It seems like there is lots of space between the D and A, Y and V, and V and U.
2). Do you think it would be possible to fade the top/bottom to black/grey, like in the concept sketch? Or would that be too complicated? And great job with the angled color fades!

Also, what if we made the holes in the D and the A look like this (with the idea of there being play/pause buttons)?

I would like to try to incorporate the play/pause idea, as it seems appropriate and elegant for a DJ.

Can anyone think of a better way to incorporate the play/pause symbols in this logo?

Tried those “play – pause” ideas! Didnt look too good. Then its also the D thing. I understand where you might be coming from as Δ is the greek letter Delta which to me, being Greek is automatically assumed to be a D, but as you might have discovered by now, this association will not be made by most of the people seeing the logo.
And then it hit me: a nice, simple idea, which can also lead to a more “simple” secondary logo out of the whole name logo which will definitely help your “branding”, incorporate the play-pause buttons and get rid of the Delta D, all in one.
One question before Im done though, are you absolutely sure about that bottom third color: cant say I agree aesthetically but hey, its your logo!
