Some basic lights to add would be nice. Maybe something like the ADJ Mega Tripar Profile (or 2 of those) and then if you can shelf out the cash something like a moving head (like a InnoBeam LED).

A little out of my price range, to be honest. I really do want a scanner, though – and the tri-par light seems really cool!!

But what if I got maybe two of Chauvet’s “SlimPAR 38 LED PAR Cans”? They seem like they are the same thing as the AJD Mega Tripar Profile, but a lot more affordable. Or a basic moon-flower light that I would just have on a setting where it stays fixed and doesn’t dance with the music – while I have the Mini Kinta dance with the music?

    Hi Branden,

I’ve started looking into some new lights for my own DJ set up, and with a mediocre budget I’ve spent a lot of time researching and trying to get the best bang for my buck… Here’s some suggestions of stuff I’m planning to get!

Scanner: ACME Dynamic 25 Scan – Acme relaunched this light this year an replaced the 10w LED with a 25w one, it is one of the cheaper scanners and makes, but for my budget it is the best in it’s bracket (from what I have researched) and retails for £165 (http://www.whybuynew.co.uk/lighting-effects/acme-dynamic-25-scan_1.htm)

Par Cans: You can buy some “par bars” which are 4 par cans already put together on a bar and are much easier set up than separate ones retail between £130-200+. For myself personally, I’m looking at just 2 cans so I’m gonna go for the ADJ Mega Par Can – (http://www.amazon.co.uk/American-DJ-LED-Light-LEDs/dp/B005ES7VSW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377950211&sr=8-1&keywords=American DJ Mega PAR) which retail for £48.

As well as these lights I’m going to get a 4ft, maybe 6ft deck stand which comes with a lighting bar, ADJ MyDMX 2.0 for controlling the lights, and if I have anything left over then I’ll try and get a hazer to make the lights stand out.

My current light set up: ADJ fx 1 bar, chauvet 4 play CL, and a QTX 4 lens led square type effect. Out of what I currently have I would only recommend the chauvet 4 play, but it seems your mini kinta light is kind of similar to it as it’s a room filler, and so it’s probably not much use.

    Hope this has helped!

Also – If anyone has any advice or comments on the lights I’ve suggested that would be greatly appreciated as I’m considering getting them – Don’t mean to hijack the thread but would be good to see what other people think! 🙂

wondering what the OP is up to now…  I am in a similar boat, adding to a Mini Kinta…

I am planning to add a second Mini Kinta, 4Play CL, fogger, MinLaser RBX, Gobo Zoom 2.0, some SlimPar56 fixtures, Mega Strobe 12FX, a pair of pinspots maybe, another laser, Obey 40(maybe the wireless one), more par style wash/uplighting fixtures, then eventually a pair of scanners like the Inno series… but for starters, the 4Play CL, a 2nd mini kinta and DMX cable to master/slave them, and a slimpack56 I think… might squeeze the laser and fog if I can and the obey 40, but I’m also buying PA and some other gear all over the next few months.  Looking at EV speakers and that means sacrifices in other areas…LOL    Hope it’s OK to post on these older threads instead of starting a fresh one asking the same Q ….  and my thoughts might help the OP if he hasn’t already made his purchases, or remind him to chime in and let us know what he’s up to now, and what he got/how it’s working out…   thanks to all that make DDJT so great!
