ParticipantHey DJ T Spin
1st are you using a PC or Mac
2nd let us know your specs on you computer/laptop/tablet/device being used and if you’re using windows/Linux/iOS
3rd let us know what your settings are on your software
4th if you can put up a video of what your problem is via youtube/vimeo that would be even more helpful, users and members have a much easier time if you upload your problem instead of them going crazy trying to visualize your problem.Problems could be grounding, Wifi, programs still running, settings or faulty device(not likely)
- Now chances are it may be a latency problem so check your latency settings, 512 or 10 ms is the standard for dj software settings so if it’s causing problems on that you may have to go higher up.
- Turn your wifi off, wifi can cause a lot of problems.
- Check to see if you have any programs running while djing.
- Another thing nothing should be (Assuming it’s a laptop) plug into the laptop unless it your power cord or something related to you djing(flash drive, external hard drives, controllers) that means your wireless mouse, phone charger or anything else shouldn’t be plugged in.
- Another thing that might cause a problem is grounding, sometime grounding the controller helps, or if your computer uses a power cord that has 3 prong you may need to add an adapter to it to use just 2 prong.
I hope I was helpful I don’t use itch, so hopefully a member who sees this forum who is more expertise at the matter can help you.

ModeratorYooo DJ E!
OP said: Asus Laptop (that would be PC) with Windows 7 OS (that would be … uhm … well … Windows).
Specs are almost certainly uninteresting for a recent machine running Win7. I am guessing no less than 4GB and a big HD.
Grounding the laptop is usually not an option, for the simple reason that many laptop adapters aren’t grounded to begin with. If they are grounded and used in an ungrounded outlet, the result is usually stuff like a 50/60Hz buzz, not what he describes.
Turning off WiFi and other unneccessary stuff is definitely good. Ya’ll know I am a big fan of actually making your laptop dual boot, so you can have a clean install for just DJ-ing. Another thing to make sure is off is Windows Search Index. Especially if you just started using the laptop, it will try to index everything on your harddrive. This really slows things down.
The problems he is describing seem to be two-fold, one is audio latency, the other is controls not responding correctly. If it were only the audio thing I’d say go an check latency settings (256-1024 should usually work, try in increments of 256). But, with the controller suffering from the lag too, there is a possibility there is something with USB causing the problem. Hard to tell from here if and what that problem could be. Could be something as simple as the correct drivers for both the controller and the soundcard part of things. I am not sure how Serato handles drivers, apparently it is supposed to be out of the box plug and play, so if you have the latest version of Serato that should not be the problem.
You can check on the Serato site, under features & specs, what is the minimum for serato to work properly. I am guessing you are well within specs, but can’t hurt to check.

Thanks for the extra info you wrote I have to keep note of this. I haven’t even been able to write on any forums because I’m Vjing and I can’t even make a quick response to anyone.

ParticipantHey Chuck one more thing is he running 32 bit or 64 bit?

ModeratorGood question, he doesn’t say. But again, based on previous experience. If it is a recent machine I’d put my money on 64-bit.

ParticipantWonder if he should reinstall his drivers then, we need a video of the problem. I hope he/she replies soon cause it’s a waste of our time on one hit members lol.

ModeratorI would really opt for splitting the HD in two partitions, reinstalling windows on the new partition (making it a dual-boot machine), stripping EVERYTHING you don’t need. Disconnect all network connections and install only the necessary stuff for DJ-ing. So much easier than trying to source the fault in an existing machine. Especially if you are not intimately familiar with either the software, hardware or total system.
I do agree that a little more info after all that is said here would be welcome. A general reply being the least he can do.
