    Hey Richie, My question is probably dumb but i am going to ask it anyway 😀 – i dont know where to start from :/ i am a total newbie in this whole DJ thing and i just dont know what to learn first … If you could guide me and tell me what to focus on first it will be great 🙂 Thanks in advance 🙂

    Hey Victor, far be it from us not to help any starting DJ. You were very specific in asking Richie for advice (rather than all of us 🙂 ), so we kinda let it slide and up to Richie to answer.

    It would be very helpful if you could tell us something more about your motives, why you want to be a DJ, what kind of DJ you think you want to be and what you would ultimately like to achieve.

    That way we can give you some more specific pointers.

    First of all, Thank you for taking the time to help me 🙂 I appretiate it 🙂
    Music has become a huge part in my life.. whatever i am doing, there is always music in the background no matter what !!! Music motivates me do deal with obstacles.So i thought to myself – wouldnt it be great if my future job involves music !?! You asked me why i want to become a DJ – just thinking about playing in front of a crowd gives me goosebumps !!! Playing for people with the same passion as you – that feeling would be the best!
    What kind of DJ – well personally i would to be Underground club DJ or a Rave DJ but i know that i will probably start as a Mobile DJ. That will just motivate me even more to achieve what i want!
    The thing that i most like about being a DJ is that after every performance you are becoming better and better !
    And my ultimate goal would be to play for huge crowds and world touring ! I know that this will sound dumb to you and i am probably the 100000th person that says it but this is just my dream and i would do anything to achieve it.
    Hope i gave you some pointers. 🙂

    P.S. Sorry for my bad usage of English – its not my mother tongue. :/

    Hey Victor, no problem with the English. Most people here have English as a second or third language.

    Since we are a DIGITAL DJ Tips forum, it will be no surprise that we’ll suggest you get acquainted with DJ Software. There are ways to try for free. Mixvibes Cross is free if you want to try it without a controller or 14-day demo version with controller. VDJ has a free option (not sure what restrictions). Serato you can install but only use as a 1-deck preparation software without a (Serato-enabled) controller attached I think. Traktor I have no clue now.

    Another good point to start looking at is the 2015 Controller Buyers Guide. Very valuable information.

    And once you have software and a controller, taking the How To Digital DJ Fast course is a good investment in fast-tracking yourself to efficient practice sessions.
