MemberI would DEFINITELY check out the aiaiai Capital. They aren’t too big, yet have 40mm drivers. They fold up and are claimed to be very rugged.
I had the TMA-1’s headband snap on me, but: only found ONE other case of this online. The guy at my DJ store told me I was the first one to return a pair of aiaiai cans. They gave me a new set no questions asked and said it was a manufacturing error. I am absolutely impressed with the aiaiai in every department and use the TMA for DJing and lots of listening on the go since I got the version with the iPhone remote. The TMA get awesome reviews over on headfi.org for their reliability and sound (which should be true too for the Capitals) and those guys are picky.
The capitals should be just as good – just not for DJing. They also have distinct style and come in awesome colors. They have the remote/mic for iPhone/iPod. I can find them for 80,- Euros -> well within your budget. If you get them please report back, I’m interested 😉

MemberChecked reviews and it says they are great, but the ear pads dont fit snugly so sound escapes making them not sound as good.
Would love to go to a shop to try loads out, but all the shops I have been in are limited and love dre beats

ParticipantI’ve said good things about them in other threads, and I use them to listen & djay, but if you can find a pair of Audio Technica m30s in Europe, they have a pretty decent warm-neutral sound. The m30s are the little brother of the m50s (pair of cans I plan on using as my mains until I find the need to buy Senns) and are the best budget headphone I’ve used to date.

KeymasterHands down the best under 100 bucks headphones for just listening:

But you have to like in ears…December 24, 2012 at 10:42 am #34046Ess Jay
MemberCheers Terry, if shipping isn’t too expensive il give these a try

MemberChecked out the mc5 on amazon, and they get quite a few bad reviews for sound quality. So close to pulling the trigger, but wondered if there was anything else?
Would these also be suitable for producing or not? Not a massive audiophile so a bit lacking in knowledge when it comes to this.

KeymasterThe problem with in ear headphones getting bad reviews is, because listening is different. Aka you get no bass “woomp”. This does not mean you do not hear the bass, but you are getting no “woomp” as less air is moved by in ears.
Some people find that offputting, while listening quality for extended periods this is awesome. You should test if this is for you or not. People will generally hate in ears or love them… I got used to them by extended use of in ear monitoring systems…If you are more looking for production headphones then I fear the cheapest are the Sennheiser HD 25-1 II which are at least 200 bucks. Good thing, they are also excellent DJ headphones so can be used for both purposes (if you get the spiral cable). If you just want good Headphones in general, get some DJ headphones that come with 2 cables and use them for both. I have the Zomo HD headphones and they work perfectly for DJing and iPod…

MemberThe BOSE IE2, are amazing in ear headphones! Since it’s bose, they have a natural PUNCHY bass. More punchy then my DN HP-700, but not to punchy for casual listening. I find them amazing : really comfortable in ear (I even slept with them once, and they never got off), nice clear and natural sound (typically BOSE), veryy durable and they are around 90$ CAD. Tell me what you think!
If you have a smartphone take a look at MIE2i. Same headphones with audio control, microphone!

KeymasterWow tastes are different thankfully… I found the Bose to be the worst in ears I ever tested, to much base and huge hole in the mid to high section.

MemberI must admit I haven’t tested SO many in-ear headphones. But I liked their sound compared to the DNHP700

ParticipantIDK if any of you knew, but Beats and Monster have split up because of a financial disagreement. Their contract ended Dec. 31. I wonder what will happen now??

ParticipantInteresting topic to me as I’m currently looking for some budget-ish in ear phones for use at work, currently tempted by the SoundMagic E10’s which got rave reviews on What Hifi.
As Terry said, it is so subjective and depends on what music you listen to etc. I hope to test out a few pairs tomorrow to see what I prefer – mind you, anything will better that the std Apple phones I’m currently using, they’re awful. In terms of DJing cans, still can’t look further than my trusty Technics RP1200’s, 17 years of gigging and still going strong (with a bit of tape here and there) 🙂
Ref Monster/Beats split, I won’t be in mourning. I’m not a fan at all, damn awful, low end biased, over priced ear jewellery in my opinion, wouldn’t touch them personally. If I saw someone DJing with them, I’d find it quite difficult to take them seriously given all of the much better and balanced headphones on the market.

ParticipantI agree they are over priced ear jewelry but I was just wondering what will happen next

ParticipantIn order of $
JVC Marshmallow in Ear headphones – +-20 bucks – Great fit, rather than rubber pieces they use foam for great isolation and decent sound
Sennheiser CX300 – 50 bucks – Good sound, really light and great for day to day stuff
and for high quality the ones Terry Posted…they are amazing headphones and the only reason why people cannot get any bass response out of them is because of the fit of the earpiece. You can pick up foam tips like the JVCs that will give a perfect fit and they do sound amazing!
But my goto headphones i just picked up are the Jaybird Bluebuds, I freaking love these things…they may not have the greatest sound quality Still VERY GOOD but no where near audiophile but for jogging, working out, around the house listening and pretty much anything that i do where i dont wanna wear my bulky HDJ-2000s they are my goto headphones…No cords and can link up to anything bluetooth.

KeymasterI agree prolly most etymotic hate reviews are because the user did not take the time to fit them.
I was wondering about bluetooth headphones, I think I might give those a try for casual use when jogging etc.
