KeymasterI never tried the V-Moda so I cannot tell about them. The HD 1500s like any Pioneers are solid DJ headphones and do everything a DJ needs, however I have found myself destroying Pioneers every 3-6 months no matter if their highend or lowend. I am really hard on my headphones…
Are the 2000s worth the extra money: For me no. If I would go for something that highly priced I would rather buy a good pair of Sennheiser HD 25 in highend configuration (the HD 25 come in different types) or if you want to save money I would go for the Reloop RHP-20, the cheapest of the “high end” but extremely well build.
If you want Pioneer like sound and sort of feel, I can also recommend the Zomo HD-1200 which are fairly cheap, but sound extremely good and you do not have to pay for their name.August 18, 2012 at 7:47 pm #1009923Anonymous
GuestAh, okay! Thanks for the feedback.
I am leaning towards the HD 1500s due to the cost to benefit factor, but I would still like to hear from anyone who has used the crossfades before seeing as I’ve never gotten a chance to actually listen to them… Any help on that end? I hear that the earpieces don’t swivel to allow for facilitated single-ear use. Is it that big of a deal? (I wouldn’t know just yet since I’ve just been using my monster turbines as a temporary measure).

ParticipantI’m actually needing help picking headphones too and instead of making a new thread, I’ll post here. My budget is between $50-$75 but I could possibly push to $100. I’ve looked around at reviews on this site and others and still can’t decide!
I’ve basically narrowed it down to Zomo HD-1200’s, Sennheiser HD-205-II’s, or Numark Red Waves. Should I be looking at other options or which one of these three should I purchase? Any and all help is definitely appreciated, as always.

KeymasterOf the 3 I would take the Zomo (I actually have hehe). I am not fond of the “hole” in the Numarks Mids, many swear by them however. I did never test that pair of Sennheisers I think, I only have the HD 25 and they cost a lot more…

ParticipantI would be leaning towards Sennheiser HD-25-II for new headphones but if you want to get a good pair of headphones go with the Sony MDR 600’s or 7506’s. They are pretty much the industry standard for any type of audio/video/tv production. The sound quality is amazing/build quality is a little cheap but for Djing they are so worth it because they are relatively cheap and sound so crisp. (one of the main differences between the two headphones is the nickel/gold plated 1/4 input. So if you want to save $60 go with the MDR 600’s which has a more rugged build quality and the nickel input)
The only reason why I am responding to this is because I have own a pair of crossfades and the drivers are already deteriorating. The bass response is great along with the hardcore build quality, I would highly recommend them for listening to music but for actual performance I would not recommend them. The sound isolation is nice but sound quality is to bass heavy leading to complications when mixing. (Gotta have those frequencies sounding crisp)
So for 60-120$ pick up a pair of sony’s. You may not be as “fly” but old heads will know that you are serious when you walk in with headphones that have been in this industry for 15+ years that still stand the test of time.

Lp crossfade 2 years no issue, almost indestructible. Better sound

ParticipantYea..I returned the sennheisers the day after i bought them and went with the HDJs. I got them for $140 they are a bit uncomfortable (you can buy protein leather earcups for another $40) but for djing they are great because they are loud (108db) and relatively flat. good call on the hdjs
