I usely start out with the mapping that comes with a new controller then play around with it to see what I’d like to change.
I started using VDJ and made some sick mapping for my VMS4 but I’m now using traktor and every knob, button tousch strip on my VMS and Radius are mapped to do something, the jog’s on the VMS are mapped to FX I use the jog on radius for normal use.

The other main concern is jog wheels which would be as easy as adding another attribute to tell the program the tics per revolution, they have not done this and I don’t expect it to change as it would make competitors hardware which is generally better quality more appealing.

Sorry i misunderstood you 🙂 Yeah, equal competitors for less money certainly isn’t in the interests of NI/etc.

    Inner cinema on

Fellow DJ: Hey, may I spin a bit on your gear?
    You: Sure:
    Fellowdj touches a button
    *freezedelaybeatmashertransposecombo*
Fellowdj: what the heck, i just pressed play?!?

    Inner cinema off

    :p

But im the same, every knob or fader has to do a job or two, if they dont, get them one 😉

BTW, what really bothers me in traktor is the fact that you only have 2 contitions for modifiers to assign… life would be so easier – > a full featured s2 mapping with all tricks – than assign a third condition to each item and voila – a 4 deck mapping without being limited by modifiers. I simply cannot understand why Native instrument has limited the Mapping in such a way. It’s not a technical issue i guess…

To be honest i think i may have seen a 4 deck mapping on the traktobible website or dj tech tools mappings section. Can’t recall where

So basically I am currently using the standards VDJ mapping for my TM4, but I have remapped the hotcues to function like in Serato.

    Terry,
Do you have issues with the scissor button? When i click on it, it works but the samples and cues do not change to the second layer on the screen. they work fine on the controller tho…. However if i press the scissor button in the software they change onscreen… Just wondering

If I press it it changes on screen and on the controller.
