Remember that not every blend has to be a beatmatched transition. Sometimes slamming in a tune at the right moment is just as good.

You can either try remixing the tunes to be more “dj friendly” or just creatively slam them in at the right points.

If I’m facing major tempo / beat changes I usually wait for a break at the first song and then try to mix in the second song there, using a part where there’s no beat at all or only some percussion that doesn’t immediately points the crowd to the fact that the tempo has changed.

Same thing if you want to go back to your original tempo, wait for a break in the current song and try to mix in the next one from there.

Try to play around a little with effects like delay and phaser, that helps me sometimes to cover the fact that the beats don’t match exactly.

Mainstream songs that are remixed to be more ‘DJ friendly’ are easy to find. But my main set focus on K-POP, whih arent DJ friendly. Thanks for the advice! I will try when I making my mix later

I usually work around this by using harmonic mixing.

How do you do that? Since harmonic mixing doesn’t have to do anything with the tempo? Please tell me if I’m wrong : )

Timo, politely decline the request to dj. do you really want to be the face that plays the music?

I shall explain: First, you don’t always have to follow the rule about tempo. Yes, you can go from 120BPM to 110BPM with the right song. If the notes perfectly match, most people won’t pay any attention to it. Some would enjoy a tempo change.

@longmover Yes I wish can do that, but my best friend did not make it clear. I owe him big time so I cant decline his offer, maybe I can ask him to remove dub step.
@DJ Stone Crazy hmmm that sounds nice. But in kpop, that doesn’t go so well.
    Thanks for the advice everybody.
