He deserved to be choked with the mic cord. Sorry you had to deal with that. How to deal with it tough really depends on the situation. My only suggestion is to try and keep it professional.

I once went to the bathroom only to come back and find a guy mixing on my tables, saying he’s a DJ and stuff. Man was I angry ! don’t…touch…my…stuff !!

He’s probably not gonna go very far in the showbiz given his attitude…. 🙂

We call them wannabes or poseurs.

Not much you can do about them. Eventually that guy quits DJing and is replaced with 10 more. It’s a vicious cycle.

You know in some countries, people like that get their fingers cut off so they can never turn a knob again…. lmao

I usually get other DJs criticizing me for just using a laptop. Then I do what I learned from this site. “You’re a DJ?” I would ask. “Yea,” they would answer. “Where’s your gig? I might come check you out,” I would answer. And you know what? They wouldn’t have a gig. Or I would receive criticism from dudes who have gigs once a month versus my having them three to four times a week.

You know you all are right!! No matter what you DJ with a laptop or Technics(which would be me). The art or DJing is no longer sacred!! It used to be an honor to say you DJed. Not any longer,LOSERS will do anything to discredit you. For their 15 mins of fame!! My beef is this, if you’re a DJ that’s not sure of yourself. Then you’re no good!! Take the time to hone in your craft!! Not prosper off of someone elses!!!
