Hardware Help for a Rookie

• What do you mean you cant use your akai Pad controller? You can map it indeed to additional hotcues.
• For your Headphoneproblem: Have you tried different Headphones? are the Windows-Soundsettings messing things up? (they love to do that…) Check your routing options in your DJ-Software (i could tell for traktor right now,but not for VirtualDJ) What i also could think of is that something prevents the Headphone plug to go in properly.
• And no, your not silly ^^
• As an Add-On Controller for tweaking effects, i recommend the Akai LPD8 – it has 8 knobs and 8 Pads (Note and CC messages) and four banks, so you have essentially 32 Knobs and 64 buttons on a slimline controller. With the Buttons you could controll the on/off of the effect units and with the knobs you could control their parameters. you also could use the pads for hotcues – And gains 🙂 You also can map everything out of it and use it as a “full” controller 😉 Cost: about 50€
