KeymasterGlad to have helped you! Even though DDJT is in the beautiful Mediterranean, a bit jealous of you in Hawaii!

ParticipantYour welcome to visit any time!
Just picked up a Jockey 3ME at a local Black Friday sale and… Traktor just went 50% off, so couple of speakers and on my way 😉

ParticipantWhat up man. Hawaii having a string showing here lol.
couldn’t help but notice your Dj’ing on a beach! Sick. must have been broadcasting through your coconut speakers n generating power from your grass shack 😉

ParticipantHowzit! Yeah, I counted 3 of us so far, probably a few more, but I didn’t go diggin to far.
Makua Beach West side 2005, spinning a small beach party for some friends. Hauled a Honda generator from Honolulu for power and played through a boom box. Lotta fun.
Do you play out locally? I’m currently working and going to school full-time, so gathering my gear, collecting tracks and practicing until I’m done with classes in March.

ParticipantSick! Must of had alot of fun im sure, can make alot of noise lol.
Naw not playing out anywhere… yet. Just in the house in front of girlfriend and dog haha. Only been at it for a month now, but trying to absorb it as much and as fast as i can. This site is definetely helping me get on my way.
so you, got any gigs lined up yet?

ParticipantNot yet. I’ve been completely out of the scene for a couple of years. I need to check out all the new parties that have started and get to know the community, promoters etc all over again. Will start going out in the Spring once I graduate. Would maybe like to gig a few weddings next summer and see what that’s like.
A month in huh? that’s cool, very exciting times getting your first mixes down. Are you able to record your sets? What’s your setup like? What Island are you on?December 4, 2011 at 6:14 am #10839Dominic Souza-Larimore
ParticipantOahu Windward side, used to live in Cali too. San Francisco for four years than Northridge for one before I decided to come back to Hawaii.
yeah its exciting, especially when i hit that mix out of the park lol. getting better by the day, still havent put together a complete set yet tho, I mean as far as getting all the mixes clean and crispy.
I do record every set I do, virtual dj makes that incredibly easy and can transfer it directly to my ipod to listen in the car or on the run.
The equipment im running is really basic, numark mixtrack, vdj, ipod dock speakers (lol), my 7 year old dell inspiron (which holds more than its own, tweaked it out for online poker) and $20 headphones from amazon. I bought the controller and headphones thinking that Im going to try it out first and see if I would actually enjoy it enough to follow through with it. Needless to say, im hooked lol. Really want to learn and indulge any and everything dj’ing. Once I get my feet planted and get more experience, Im going to upgrade for sure. Thats a sure bet, as sure as UH football will shave points to lose games. Hiyooooo! lol
Where you at and what you rocking?

ParticipantThat’s a good basic setup. You can sell the mixtrack no problem if you decide to upgrade, and higher end dj headphones go on sale all the time.
I invested a little as I know I like to do this and wanted a setup that could last a few years at the least. I just got a Reloop Jockey 3 on Black Friday over at Creative Light and Sound. Sold some of my schoolbooks back to amazon and got a pair of Technics headphones. I’m thinking of picking up a pair of the M-Audio AV-40s everyone is raving about on this site. My Asus laptop is pretty fresh as I had to replace a 5 year old Acer that died about 6 months ago. Slowly optimizing it for djing.
My girl and I live in Honolulu, about 5 minutes froim downtown. Have spent a lot of time in SF as well. Now that’s a great dj town! -
