That is true but if you miss some programs on Mac that is on PC there are ways to run Windows in Mac the other way around (running Mac osx in PCs) is as far as I know impossible??

That is more then ample.. I don’t get the mac obsession sometimes…

A good PC is as good as a good mac. No difference. Just price point.

Very little is needed for most DJ programs these days….
I’m running an i3, 7 Home Premium, 4 gigs of RAM, I paid 400. No sorta hiccups or spikes whatsoever, and sometimes I forget to turn the wi-fi off, lol.

The hard drive is the weakest link @ 320 gigs….but that’s an easy and inexpensive upgrade, or just run from an external if you don’t wanna muck around with swapping out parts.

Aside from the hard drive (as recordings in .wav format can eat up space rather quickly), but i’d say you’re golden in the performance standards. Now as far as using it as an everyday machine too…me personally, I’d have one dedicated just for music.

I’ve got a desktop for everyday things, the laptop only has Traktor Pro 2 and iTunes on it. Having a dedicated machine cuts down on all the background processes running due to added applications that love to auto-run and then install themselves as services at times.

For those kinda specs, you won’t really notice it all too well, but the less that’s running, the least amount of points of failure you have.

Sorry, I’m an IT guy too. ^_^

And while we’re on the subject…not to bash Mac users…but I can’t do it, I’d rather just save the 1000 or so extra bucks I’d pay for the glowing apple and deck my laptop out with some crazy stickers ๐Ÿ˜€

And get a few more musical toys.

One of the other things I love about PC is I know how to fix shit when it breaks. Short of catastrophic hardware failure, I know how to fix Windows if it decideds to screw its self (Hasn’t happened yet anytime)

I question how long it would take to gain that knowledge of OSX, well for me someone who has spent 20 years or so as a Windows user. I know that OS like the back of my hand.

Thats just me though. I figure its safe to stick with what you know, especially when the differences are much more minimal then people like to make out.

Yep, at least from a software point of view. In the creative branch there’s been always harsh discussions whether to use MAC or Win, but having tried both (my university has, unfortunately as I will explain, to MAC two terms ago), using two Win7 PCs at home and iMacs at university, in my opinion MAC has no edge on Win7, since it is faster, more comfortable in many aspects and (which used to be THE kill-argument pro MAC) is MORE reliable than MAC. AND, pain, easier to set up, especially when it comes to network sharing disk space and programs.

Ouch. Hear me, Jobsie? You didn’t do yer homework ๐Ÿ˜‰ Especially when used with sometimes critical software like CAD/3D (which of course, most DJs won’t ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).

But graphics designers will defend their MACs down to the knife, so, as a conclusion – try which suits you best.

Ive been running VDJ Pro 7 on my 6/7 year old intel core duo 2…3 gb ram ive had no problems so far, although you should always consider adjusting internal laptop settings such as power plan when djing and various background procceses that dont need to run when your using your softwre.

As much memory as you can get, on Windows 7, 3-8 Gb is great, I’m running an i3 and all is fine.

Memory, HDD space are the most important things to consider. AND a good battery.

I run Traktor on an Acer (don’t laugh!) lappy with an old T4200 dual core cpu and 4Gb of RAM. Everything works just fine, I’m playing roughly 5 hours per night straight. The only thing I would definitely recommend is more RAM and Win 7 over Vista (I’m hoping to swap over myself soon).

I’m sort of stuck on this right now myself.

The advice I got from a local guy that gigs out is to go with a cheap mac.

He said that his windows went to update itself somehow and it crashed his setup completely. Before and after. Died a horrible death.

My laptop has 3GB RAM and a dual core AMD processor. MY HDD has 320 GB, but I have pretty much eaten most of that up. It will need a serious trimming, should I go out with it.

No issues, thank God, as of yet, but I am considering a used mac to be on the safe side.
