MemberSuprisingly little.
Anything with a minimum of a i3 and 4gig of RAM should be more then enough, tho I’ve ran Traktor on a Core2Duo with no problems.

MemberWhat about Macbook Pros? Does it matter if its a 2.2 ghz or 2.5 ghz? If they both have 4gb ram. Are the older models just as good?

MemberI’ve run Traktor and a DDJ T1 on a 2008 Macbook with no issues at all…. So yeah that’d be ample.

ParticipantAny macbook/macbook pro with Intel processor will do the job.
2Gb ram is OK but the more Ram the better and HDD should be large enough to
contain Mac os + your software (traktor?) and your music……I run a Macbook Pro 2008 with Intel dualcore 3Gb ram and 500Gb HDD with no issues

Sorry to hear that about the Mac but you might come to your senses some day hopefully 😉

Nice to hear that your issues are taken care of 🙂Not to start a mac vs pc thread but to me a 2000 dollar pc that cant bse upgraded and forces you to toss out your old hard ware and spend 2000 more dollars on one with more ram is a huge ball buster for me.

MemberMAC OS IS FAR BETTER FOR DJ
CORE AUDIO IS VERY STABLE
BUT IF FEEL WELL WHIT WINDOWS OS CHECK THE SAMSUNG SERIES 7March 8, 2012 at 9:23 am #16433Arbite
MemberThe only issue is that there are some really good programs on Mac that Aren’t on PC (traktor mapping, Osculator etc.)
If you can get a decent second hand mac it would be decent, but there are no real issues with PC. In fact my PC has proved more useful in more situations than my old mac.

ParticipantI’d get a series-old thinkpad or any other laptop thats rugged and originally sold for business use. They gradually have better quality in parts. Then just make an install of win7 with -everything- taken out except the things you really need – and keep it that way. Then pc might hold without constant tweaking. “15 yrs with pc, mac since -07”
p.s. Specs are really not that important. Anything 2 years old or newer can run todays dj-software if the os is light enough. I’d put my money on SSD drive.

You can never get too much RAM
But you will be fine with 2Gb.
You will notice if/when you ever use more than 2Gb Ram
as the computer than uses HDD space as viritual RAM.But Mac as I know it uses less RAM than a PC for OS and less other things that needs to run in background.

To be fair, there are some good programs on PC that aren’t on Mac too – I miss a really good MP3 tag editor on Mac.
