It is getting used to mainly.
I used to start on vinyl (without DVS) and now I am playing digital 99% of the time.
However I am playing around with SSL from time to time in a friends bar (he has bought my old setup as his house gear) and switching back and forth is not that bad, but I need at least 2-3 songs switching to the DVS to get it right when scratching or needing to nudge a lot, whereas switching to digital is much more easy… but that is prolly simply because I use digital a lot and it now feels more at home than the DVS.

I really would love to get my hands on some Denon 3700s to see if they are as good as all people say they are… maybe they are the best of both worlds…

The Denon 3900s have got this emulation (start/stop speeds) down to a tee, they feel so like vinyl it’s unreal.

The toughest thing is getting used to how sensitive the record is to touch. Its easy to be heavy handed. Even the slightest pressure, nudge or pinch of the spindle will make a difference. I started on vinyl, moved to CDJs and then to digital. I brought another set of turntables to keep my skills tight + improve scratching but I must admit if I haven’t touched them in ages, it takes a few mixes to get dialled again.

If Denon keep going the way they are going I’m sure a lot of smaller clubs will make the jump from Pioneer. The price point is hard to ignore for the quality they appear to have.

Right I meant the 3900 of course.

LOL I love the 3900s, they are the most fun I’ve had digital DJing since I ditched my vinyl.

so 2-3 Weeks ago i left my digital gear at home and just used the Clubs SSL setup.
Since then i just used the Vinyls and i must say i love it, it feels great (maybe i developed a vinyl-fetish…)

with my “digital” knowledge its easier to understand the analog roots and the other way around,
like a circle that slowly closes to me….

now that i’ve seen both worlds, analog and digital, i even less understand what all the fuzz and whining is about?!
Every side has some great advantages and some downsides…
