    At long last, here it is – the first set played with the prototype of my DJ software.

    It was a whole lot of fun getting this far, and I am really going to enjoy having total control of my workflow. This set is a bit of a baseline, I am not pushing it very hard, but I will need to spend some time practicing the workflow before I can really push it.

    Please forgive the bumps. In particular, “Crazy, Crazy” by Skeewiff & Keith Mansfield really didn’t work in the mix, slowed down way too much. I also need to fine tune the EQ response and a whole slew of other things, but that’s neither here nor there – this thing is fun to play with!

    Here’s the first set played live with my new DJ software.

    It’s based on an impromptu session at Deadline on the afternoon of the second day… somebody brought out a bluetooth speaker, so I threw together a Mario vs. Sonic playlist on my phone real quick and jumped between my favorites of the various remixes I have for those two.

    You can tell the DJ software is still a prototype, and I again didn’t push it very hard – mostly because I love all of the tracks in this set so much that I really didn’t want to do much with ’em except let them play. It’s a bit rough in places, but this is a lot more open format than I usually tend to work.

    This will probably be the last of the regular Friday Flavourites (in spite of how irregular they’ve become lately). It was a whole lot of fun, and I am very thankful for the opportunities it gave me.

    Not everyone was excited to see the Piggers go all the way this year, so instead, we got down to some groovy music.

    This was my first chance to drop the groovy funk since moving back to the US from Europe, it sure did feel good. Hoping to play more parties in the future, or I may either get myself a radio slot or something similar. I gots ta play!

    This is a promo mix I threw together to showcase my new single which is coming out later this week – “This Is How We Do It in Kalamazoo.” It’s the last track in the set, and it’s my first go at Ghetto Swing after feeling so good about how “Freakytown” really managed to nail the Ghetto Funk sound for me (also in this set).

    Not very long ago, I moved from one continent to another – a process which meant I was out of my usual cycle of processing new music into my setlist. However, I was still grabbing new releases when I had the opportunity. In the process, my unsorted folder got to where it was twice the size of my existing setlist.

    This weekend, I FINALLY finished sorting ALL of my new music, adding the cream into my setlist and deleting the rest. It was an incredible amount of work.

    In celebration, I threw together this little mix with some of the new tracks and some of my favorites that have withstood the test of time.
