Friday Flavourites

So, this week was an Open House, so the set is a lot longer – 3 hours. My first long set, it was a bit on the grueling side.

Flavour Open House (19-Sep-2014)

It was pretty well received from a mixed age audience… I did something different from my usual work in that I did a gradual energy build, starting with just my low energy tracks and ratcheting it up as the night progressed. This did make it a little difficult to find mixing opportunities in the earlier parts of the set, but I think it came out OK.

Mixcloud has to follow rules set down by the American recording industry which means not being able to play more than x tracks from the same artist in a set, and y from the same artist per hour, yadda yadda yadda, so I was unable to provide a setlist (which really annoys me). Sorry.

Yeah, I’ll try to pull it together and also just get in the habit of including the setlists in the posts here.

I haven’t tried Ghetto Funk to Deep House yet, that’s something I should try. I know that Ghetto Funk and Electro Swing tend to work pretty well together, but it requires knowledge of the tracks because Ghetto Funk is a Breakbeat style and Electro Swing is a House style, so in some cases the beats do not play nicely together.
