KeymasterNot a bad idea at all. I do not know however how many posts we would get in such a forum.
Do you think it would be enough to open up a separate section? (Please others who would like such a forum chime in with your opinions.)July 19, 2012 at 9:12 am #1008100DJ Yaka
Participantye, think it would be a great idea

ParticipantIt sounds great but to be honest this forum is a little too international for it to really work. You need something a little more local for promo.

ParticipantI’m a fan of keeping it in “The DJ Booth”, simply because I don’t see this area getting overrrun with topics all the time.
If we did do a section, I’d like it to be talking about HOW to promote…not for people to post their events. Besides, I wouldn’t promote events on a board full of DJs. Part of the reason is because most of you are not from where I’m at and likewise I’m not near you. Plus I’d assume the DJs on said board are too busy to come out.

ParticipantWhilst I agree with D-Jam’s point that it would most likely be a quieter sub-forum and the posts wouldn’t otherwise clog up “The DJ Booth” I personally think it’s a great idea.
Ok maybe not for an entire sub forum, but I think it could still warrant a ‘how to guide’ from someone with a bit of experience which could turn into a healthy thread.
I didn’t have a clue what I was doing running my first student night and can still remember almost wetting myself when the manager told me there was no chance of starting a tab for the DJ for the night. At that point an in-depth how to would have been invaluable for me. I had no idea what costs I might need to fork out and who to contact at what point.
Still, the night was a success and has, even up til now, provided me with my biggest earnings for one night’s work, I’d highly recommend it to anyone!
Not bad considering I was 17 at the time 😉
(I’ve been in education since then, hence why I still haven’t earnt more than that in one night, although I’m not entirely sure what else I could do to top it, keeping all my clothes on)July 19, 2012 at 9:36 pm #1008201D-Jam

ParticipantMy bad.
I’m sure there’s a sub-forum of hell for people like me.Tried to redeem myself with a “but..”, couldn’t even think of one.
*Edit*
I’m not usually a wine drinker, so I’ll blame that!July 19, 2012 at 10:36 pm #1008211D-Jam
ParticipantDon’t come down on yourself. I wrote that series a year ago, so I’m not expecting anyone to just sift through all the great content on this site for that. It’s why I’ll just pull up the link when I see someone didn’t know it existed.
It’s a 6-part series, mainly drawn from my experiences and mistakes. Check it out and please feel free to ask questions.

KeymasterThanks for the repost…. don’t feel bad Tibbetts, they made me moderator and I have to admit I didn’t read that yet… hehe
But very good read D-Jam! I really like it.

Memberyes! that article is exactly what i was referring to. probably one of the best series written up so far and i would love to continue discussion on that. i was definitely not referring to a subsection where people post their events

KeymasterWe’re going to revamp the main site one of these days and bring these “knowledgebase” articles to the fore…
