Frankfurt is a special place to me for personal reasons. I’d like to post a couple of videos related to this city in various ways.

As far as I know, both DJ Taucher and Kai Tracid come from that area, here are two tracks for that reason. I am not too good in categorizing music into sub-genres but I think these two generally belong to German Trance.

    Artist: DJ Taucher
    Track Name: Infinity (Phase I)
    Release Year: 1995

(I guess this very track preceded all the “Infinity” tracks which followed, including Guru Josh Project?)

    Artist: Kai Tracid
    Track Name: Liquid Skies
    Release Year: 1998

Finally, this one. Simply for the fact that this beautiful video was shot in Frankfurt 🙂 I really love the skyline of this city.

    Artist: Mauro Picotto
    Track Name: Iguana
    Release Year: 1999

    Enjoy your weekend, guys!

d-M and this Thump article put me in the mood for trance’s heyday.

Beyond the anthems many know, I’d say this one ranks at the top of my list of favorites:

    Title: Madagascar (Ferry Corsten Remix)
    Artist: Art of Trance
    Label: Platypus

    Year released:
    Genre: Trance

Art of Trance is also known as producer Simon Berry, cofounder of Platypus Records. Berry had been producing since the early 90s under several names including Art of Trance, but remained relatively out of the spotlight until his 1999 single Madagascar was remixed by Ferry Corsten. it bluew up all over the world, getting much play by the then exploding trance headlining DJs we know of all too well.

For me, I just remember hearing Madagascar in a large space club, and was taken for a ride. I didn’t do drugs, but the tune gave me a literal high with it’s soaring synths and strong build-up. I had picked up the vinyl and played it to death. I still get shivers when I hear it.

Although I couldn’t find an original, this is a pretty good mix/medley (from DJ Cole – 1979).
It features all four !!! tracks from the album (not a 12″, an actual album) Poussez (Poo-Say) by Alphonse Mouzon.

Just had to share the album cover. SOOOOO 70s!

Here’s the youtube for the medley:

Well King, since (looked upon from our own GMT time zone) it’s saturday just before midnight somewhere in the world until 12:00 on sunday in central Europe, we don’t close the Friday Flashback til that time.

Plenty of time to react to this post.
