This one particular tune, that got me interested listening to dance/remix tunes (that leads to clubbing/DJing) back in the days I hate anything remix of the original songs that I liked, or any up-tempo tunes, I was in love drowning in pop-mellow-crap basically
i owed it all to my once-buddy (still think he is), Carlos is his name, this cat kept feeding me this tune, EVERYTIME I was riding with him, he kept playing this over and over in his 12 inch subs, i kept gettin a headache, nausea at first encounters (well several), I prayed “LORD make his stereo ate this TAPE !” LOL
Then suddenly, one day, its just snapped thru me, I start bopin my heads and started thinkin “man this TITE!”
Thus began my magic journey thru the Electronic music tunes, everytime when i think about the start of this journey, i always think of my buddy, Thank You Carlos !PS : Just a little side notes, last I heard from Carlos was, he was badly damaged from drugs, he kind of lost some of his memories, some folks said they always saw him in the morning, just be like walking on foot, on the side of the road from his house to a nearby city (around 15 miles), for what ? noone knows, it breaks my heart when i heard this news

ParticipantThe disco era and my adolescence went hand in hand, and I have a lots of memories from our local disco. But one track still is in my favourite playlist and actually never left it:

ModeratorHolland used to have a “real” DJ magazine way back in the early 80s, called Discoh! For a few years there was a national DJ show under the same name. And they made a vinyl compilation album that you could buy only at the show. In 1982 it had a mix by nobody less than Ben Liebrand. It featured this track which I thought was a brilliant rap over McFadden & Whiteheads “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now”. While it wasn’t the biggest floor filler of it’s day, it’s easily one of my all-time favorite classics.

Participant@Arnaldi…that’s a great tune. A true representation of the beginnings of Big Beat from all the acid breaks that were pumping in the mid-90s.
@Gerd…very smooth tune. Would love to see a modern remake in the more smooth deep house style.
@Vintage…that’s a very cool pick. I keep waiting for the chorus to kick in, despite that it wasn’t in there. It’s funny how much hip-hop had evolved from those early years.

ParticipantOk, I had a few picks in mind for this inaugural, but I’m keeping the limit at one, so here we are:
Title: The Real Wild House
Artist: Raúl Orellana
Label: BCM, Blanco Y Negro
Release: 1989I’ll confess, while I did get into house music in 1987 and finally started DJing in 1991, I had never hard The Real Wild House until a few years ago. I was watching a video of the acid house raves of the UK back in 1989, when this video opened up with Raúl’s masterpiece:
(is Phil in there somewhere?)Coming from Chicago, most of the old school I grew up with was more harder and “urban”. These lighter, more “Balearic” ideas were more reserved for the open-minded logic of Europe’s club and rave scene, and they never really caught a following in the Windy City. Beyond Sueño Latino, most Americans even into house music were not really catching much of this sound that seemed so natural to the Europeans.
There isn’t much easy information on Raúl Orellana, beyond him being a longtime DJ in Barcelona and record industry insider. He held a 12 year residency at Barcelona’s Studio 54 (no relation to the NYC one) and later released his own album full of Spanish guitar-infused dance music. The Real Wild House seemingly blew up in Italy and then later popped up in the UK’s Second Summer of Love. He’s currently a product manager of Blanco Y Negro (which explains why The Real Wild House is on Beatport) and still DJs to this day.
Personally, I just liked the flow of The Real Wild House, as it was a unique and different sound compared to much of the old school folks in my neck of the woods knew of. I like this tune so much that I even put it on my smartphone just to listen to. Makes me think of warm weather, and much of the gorgeous landscape Phil teases me with on Facebook. 😉

ParticipantHi D-Jam,
so, here my classic.
I still remember when i bought this record, somewhere in ’93. we’re talking classics right?
it was so bloody hard to find and i even had to travel for 8 hours to get to the record store that was holding a copy. Called the guy at the store, his name was Kurt (oh the shop was in Hannover, Germany, oh and how funny, i still remember his name) and he promised to hold the record for me ’till i arrived the next day. Long story short, spend the whole night in Hannover clubbing with Kurt and his friends (we went to the place called ‘Trance’) and i took the next train back home to Holland in the morning. Just to find out halfway that the record was still in Kurt’s shop! Bought some tickets back to Hannover and at last got the record.
Played it thousand of times, and it is still part of my sets, although i mix in only the last part of it, with the vocals that is.
here the picture of the record:https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4fC-KVXPAgTVlhjaFBXTFZSR1U/view?usp=sharing
and here the song i played most from this record and that i would call my classic:
regards,
