Here are my three classics from when I first started programming indoor cycling. The job is to keep people’s feet moving. Not moving precisely the same fashion that a club dj wants them to, but round and round instead. Maybe even harder to motivate! As far as genre, I never even thought about it at the time. We used to call all of it Electronica in Southern California where I lived.

I know Al Hudson & Partners has passed through Flashback Friday’s Music Share before (Happy Feet – courtesy of GerdB I think), but I just came across my original 12″ copy of “You can Do it It” (from the same album 1979).

No matter what, this stuff just makes you wanna move.

    Happy Holidays!

Going to be cheesy today…starting with this “holiday classic”:

    Title: Christmas In Hollis
    Artist: Run DMC
    Label: A&M

    Genre(s): Rap, Hip-Hop
    Year released: 1987

No explanation needed, just a line from Die Hard…

John MacClaine: Don’t you have any christmas music?

Argyle: This is christmas music man!

Second one, from the classic “Beat Street”

    Title: Santa’s Rap
    Artist: The Treacherous Three
    Label: Atlantic

    Genre(s): Rap, Hip-Hop
    Year released: 1984

Most interesting aspect was how this was a start for Doug E Fresh and Kool Moe Dee. Funny how KMD went from Santa to more “harder” rapper when the group disbanded.
