Using them with Serato is only with a Serato certified mixer or soundcard I think.

As for learning, it really is pretty straightforward. Just make sure to download the latest RekordBox software and prepare you playlists and tracks there. Then create a USB-stick to take with you (make at least one, but preferably two clones of the stick). If you have two hours to play around with the CDJs before the gig, you should be fine. Maybe you’ll have to forgo some of the advanced tricks on the CDJs, but it’s better to spend some time on the mixer (especially the FX section) too.

Good luck. Let us know how it went.

Okay thanks man! I hope you’re right about it. It’s just simple intro/outro mixing mostly, I don’t plan doing the more complicated things. First I’m gonna find out if I can use Serato and if that’s the case everything should turn out fine, otherwise I’ll just take the risk.

In a CDJ2000 Nexus setup you’ll usually find a matching DJM-900 Nexus mixer. This is not Serato compatible. And since a club has no real reason to provide you with a Serato compatible soundcard, I am gonna be taking a guess that you can’t use Serato. There is a CDJ-900SRT Serato compatible mixer for sale, but highly doubtful you will find one of those in a club (you WILL see some DJs carrying around their own mixer though).

And if you are doing straight intro/outro mixing, you could do that with a turntable, let alone CDJ2000s and a decent mixer with FX as you will find at this club.

You can use Traktor with the full cdj 2000 + djm 900 Nexus setup,
Just plug the usb’s into your laptop
