Good to hear, I was able to play my first successful gig recently too due to this website and resources! Best feeling in the world ain’t it?!

To quote Borat; Great success!! How were first gig nerves? First few gigs I did I couldn’t stick the needle on the record as my hands were shaking so much 😀

(Yes, needle on record. Its my age)

The gig nerves weren’t too bad. I think that the advice others have given about starting with a very small gig is great advice. It was mostly a large group of my friends along with some others that I didn’t know so while I was a bit nervous, I knew that there really wasn’t a whole lot of pressure. It was awesome and a lot of fun though. I actually just booked another gig which is actually going to be a very large party, 150-250 people for Halloween. THIS one I am nervous for 😉 It will only be from 7pm -11pm though and they want me to play a lot of house, electronic type music and some halloween hits so it should be a pretty easy play list to put together at least. I can’t wait. I am sure that I will have some pre gig nerves for sure when this one starts. At least I’ll be able to hide behind a costume of some sort. The theme is “Intergalactic Space Universe Halloween”, so now I have to pick an awesome costume that I can still be comfortable in and mix well 🙂

Thanks for all the replies everyone, this site has been a great resource.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with re-using a few crowd favourites later on in the evening. It’s much better than playing your second-rate stuff when the dance floor is packed, or simply hitting stop and saying “I’m out of music”.

For sure, totally agree w/ that. At least I could keep track of the play count in Traktor so I wasn’t OVERplaying them 😉

Ha! must try that some time.

Congratulations. Well chosen first gig – having some friends there always helps. Good luck with the Halloween gig.
