Also I’m just playing a half hour set at the moment – just after another guy who’s playing half an hour and just before an hour set. I know the pioneer CDJs are generally pretty developed in terms of they have similar things to what my laptop will have but how simple is the transition gonna be?

You said you use Traktor, there are tools to sync your Traktor playlist(s) and tracks to RekordBox and then on to a USB stick. But since there are no (RekordBox-enabled) CDJs there, that is now a mute point.

I guess the one thing that hasn’t been mentioned yet is that there’s no sync-button on a CDJ (unless it’s a nexus)! So if you can’t beatmatch manually that’s going to be a problem point. Same goes with your question about DJ switch-overs – you’ll likely need to manually beatmatch your first song with the previous DJs last so there’s no pause in music.

Ok so, I just asked one of the guy’s I’m DJing with who’s been to the gig before and he said that I could quite easily just connect my controller (Numark Pro) to the in-house mixer. I assume this would mean I wouldn’t need to get involved with the CDJs? I’m just thinking because my controllers really basic so I don’t want to confuse myself using something with a thousand buttons…

And if, for some reason, I can’t use my own controller, the 900s and 2000s fully integrate with Traktor so I can just play off my computer as per usual, then only use what I need… right?

And yeah Chuck it’s a private event

Yes, the 900s and 2000s can be used as controllers for traktor. But with other cd-players you’ll need timecode cd’s and an audio interface such as the traktor scratch A6.

This thread would move along much better if you just gave the place a call and asked them i) what gear do they have and ii) can you bring a controller. That way we wouldn’t need to speculate and could get down to giving actual advice.

That pretty much settles it the. Use your own gear. Go with what you know.

    Good luck & greetinx,
